I thought you would all like this please forgive pasting regards Lara The day would soon arrive when I could not ignore the rash. I was obviously ill and so I called on Doctor Nash. This standard consultation would adjudicate my fate. I walked into his surgery and gave it to him straight: `Doc, I wonder if you might explain this allergy of mine, I get these pins and needles running up and down my spine. From there, across my body, i will suddenly extend -My neck will feel a shiver and the hairs will stand on end. And then there is the symptom that only a man can fear A choking in the throat, and the crying of a tear.' Well, the Doctor scratched his melon with a rather worried look. His furrowed brow suggested that the news to come was crook. 'What is it Doc?' I motioned. 'Have I got a rare disease? I'm man enough to cop it sweet, so give it to me, please.' 'I'm not too sure,' he answered, in a puzzled kind of way. 'You've got some kind of fever, but it's hard for me to say. When is it that you feel this most peculiar condition?' I thought for just a moment, then I gave him my position: 'I get it when I'm standing in an Anzac Day parade, And I get it when the anthem of our native land is played, And I get it when Meninga makes a Kiwi-crunching run, And when Border grits his teeth to score a really gutsy ton. I got it back in '91 when Farr-Jones held the Cup, And I got it when Japan was stormed by Better Loosen Up. I get it when Banjo takes me down the Snowy River, And Matilda sends me waltzing with a billy-boiling shiver. It hit me hard when Sydney was awarded the Games, And I get it when I see our farmers fighting for their names. It flattened me when Bertrand raised the boxing kangaroo, And when Perkins smashed the record, well, the rashes were true blue. So tell me, Doc,' I questioned. 'Am I really gonna die?' He broke into a smile before he looked me in the eye. As he fumbled with his stethoscope and pushed it out of reach, He wiped away a tear and then he gave me this stirring speech: 'From the beaches here in Queensland to the sweeping shores of Broome, On the Harbour banks of Sydney where the waratah's in bloom. From Uluru at sunset to the Mighty Tasman Sea, In the Adelaide cathedrals, at the roaring MCG. From the Great Australian Bight up to the Gulf of Carpentaria, The medical profession call it 'green and gold malaria'. But forget about the text books, son, the truth I shouldn't hide. The rash that you've contracted here is 'good old Aussie pride'. I'm afraid that you were born with it and one thing is for sure - You'll die with it, young man, because there isn't any cure. > > C'MON AUSSIE --

Cool change is just passing through Mudgee and hopefully will bring some rain. Have a great night and I'll chat with you all in the morning. Lew Lew xoxoxoxoxoxo

Hi Lara & Joodles from another Leo Mine's the 9th August. Tony & Barb - Congrats - but I'm sure you don't have enough spare days for another holiday - LOL - you could make money out of this and put it up for the highest bidder - then you'd have more spending money for Scotland. You can't possibly want to laze about on some island soaking up the sun - can you???? Catch y'all this arvo. Hi to Sandra - nice to see you pop in between research. Take care, have a great day - I won't - I'm working - LOL Gwenda

And top of the morning to you all Hope everyone had a happy Valentine's Day. Glad to hear that hubby remembered you Lew even though he was far away. And Vonny - so long as I don't have to cook it - any meal is gratefully received! We didn't do anything special today (got a beautiful red rose though) because we've booked to go to Amici Forever in Brisbane on Saturday night. I just love them and they are only doing one concert in Bris so am really looking forward to it. I always have their CD's playing. If you don't know them, they are 4 classically trained young opera singers, 2 girls and 2 boys, who sing like angels - all the really well known and beautiful classical pieces. They are extremely good looking young people and dress to kill - they are the whole package as far as I'm concerned! They are based in London but 1 guy is from NZ and one of the girls is from South Africa. I wanted to post this lovely verse yesterday but didn't get time. Something special to share with loved ones. 'What really matters most to me.' 'I've brought along a bulging bag of time for us to share in the quiet of our hearts It's full of the things I long to share with you - who I've met, where I've been something that I've read A joy, a joke, a tease, a dream a touch of make believe a thought that won't lie down A mess, a plea, a quandary, a decision to be made feelings far from home It doesn't really matter what it happens to be what really matters most to me is that I can share my life with you.' (Noel Davis) Isn't that beautiful? Share it with a loved one today. And I guess this applies to our Wattlers Club too - we can all share with each other - a joke, a worry, a joy and it enriches our lives. Tony - what a wonderful surprise for Barb and you. Congratulations - a most opportune time for it to come your way. Enjoy! But when are you going to fit it in? You'll have to give up work to take permanent holidays! Lara - my birthdate was 22.5.1945. A Gemini but on the cusp with Taurus. I think I'm more often the plodding old bull than the mercurial Gemini! Liked your Aussie pride poem. Well - must away and do some house work. Chris has gone to do a day's supply teaching so I'd better have somethng to show for my day at home when he gets back from work! Catch you all later Anna

Well good morning all wafflers from Botany Bay. I watched a mystical sunrise this morning, with light fluffy clouds about, the sun rising was spectacular. The great iron giraffes had all the colours in the sky behind them - it only lasted a short time - but I sat out with a cuppa on the balcony and enjoyed it. We dined out for Valentines day last night - candles, chicken salad, & a nice bottle of red on the beach. I didn't get flowers, as the bunch I got on Saturday are still bewdiful . . . but I did get a lovely card. Ray got a nice card and a cherry ripe in his lunch box - but dont think the email I sent him about lovely old farts like him was appreciated. Lara, I'm a Virgo - 3/9/50 . . . but as I was born on Fathers Day, so thats when we've always celebrated the event. Thats how my Dad always told me I got my name, he registered me before Mum was out of hospital, went to court house on the Monday - I was his trophy, his Laurel wreath! Mum lost a nephew during the war Lawrence (Laurie) so thats how I got the other version. I just think that being number 9 they were running out of ideas for names. Mind you I think I can remember being shocked to find out my name was just Laurel, for the first few years i think I thought I was Joanmariejohnpatriciacherryvickigeofferylaurelkennneeetthhh! (I didn't loose count - Michael died before I was born) Hi Shaz girl, nice to have you back after your trubs with the dreaded mice! That would be great if Pat & Joy were able to go to Yarrawonga with you - for those of you who dont know them, both the girls came to our lunch at the Casino before Christmas, and Pat came to our first ever mini-meet up. Both lovely ladies. Dont you just love the puter literate - they have a whole different way of talking to us not so techy peeps. Puters don't phase me - thats probably why they have such a short lifespan in my company. First puter I worked on was the size of a shopping Mall - at Dept of defence in Canberra, so this little thing in front of me is nothing to worry about -its a toy! Wonder what books Lara is reading to have stories about pole dancing ?? (note to check out her library while in Yarrawonga). Was thinking last night of a good book to take on long flights with me - decided dont need to - have lappy will be entertained by going ons on wattle thread! Hi to Mary, so glad you are getting to drop in and let us know your OK - keep enjoying that holiday! I think Leah might be about - she indicated last time that she is keeping up and reading our thread. If so Hi Leah, about time you popped in and said hello. Hope all is good. I have a dreadful day ahead of me - just know I am going to be majorly depressed tonight . . have lots of bills to pay includeing two lots of Qld rates . . . lots of money out and nothing to show for it at the end of the day! I guess I could do a parade of the receipts for hubby, glue them all together and make a new top for myself! 'Fashions from the House of Bill' 14 Sleeps to departure day . . . now thats cheered me up no end! Bye for now . . . avagooday luv Laurie
