Good grief Joy, what are you cooking - a 7 course banquet? What's wrong with frozen pizza and back to the computer? Let's have the end of the story - you tease, you! Lol. Tina

Hi Joy, I know you are probably asleep at this time but what happened at the Hard Rock Cafe? Friar

Joy Report 24 Jul 2005 10:42

Soooooooooo sorry - had visitor, and a few problems, and not been here much. Then last night went to see the show ''The Rat Pack'' - music of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jnr and Dean Martin - brilliant! Well, doesn't really sound funny now, but it was at the time, I was creased up. Things don't to other people anyway, do they?! So I asked for my normal at the Hot Rock thingy (got the name wrong, even!) - Cinzano Bianco - and she looked to see what they had - no, we don't have that. We have Martini Rosso though, she smiled. Well! bianco: white; rosso: red. She wanted to know what the difference was..............so I told her - colour...and flavour! So, there you go, not that funny at all really, but I laughed at the time! sorry you had to wait so long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-) Joy

Joy, I think it's funny. Although the more I see of how other people do their jobs, the more I wonder how some businesses survive! I have a slightly similar story. My father lived for many years in Alsace, France, and was very fond of french wine, especially alsatian wine, a fondness which he passed on to his family!! (No, no we are not all drunkards - well, not all of us!) Some years after his death my mother had an old school friend of hers to stay, and took her and my husband and myself out for a meal to a rather posh hotel nearby. Unfortunately, we picked a bad night to go. They had just had a large conference there which had overrun, and were not well organised in the dining room. A lot of the staff were obviously temporary. We had to wait a long time for our table, and my mother was severely displeased (as only my mother could be!) Eventually we sat down and ordered our food, and mother then looked at the wine list. A rather young waitress stood nervously beside her waiting for the order. My mother looked down the wine list, looked around the table at us, and said 'What about the alsatian?' The waitress jumped back 2 feet and looked under the table!

Tina - that is even funnier! Glad you were amused by my little tale! Had a glass of white wine instead (bit yucky). Shall go to the bar on the prom next time instead! :-) Joy
