HI Rebel nice to see you don't know if people are still here or not? Pat x

Hi Sue, yes I noticed your telling off. Forget it, some folk put their mouths into gear before their brain. Hi Pat :) Afew are still here. A lot of the folk from tips are wary of this board because of the reception they recieved when they first arrived. Not to mention some of the more recent stuff...........that's what pushed them to tips in the first place. It had a friendlier atmosphere, so they stayed. Regulars on general can make of that what they will...... Rebs

Jess, Thanks for that reply - yes, I haven't seen 'Necromancer' for a while ... wasn't it Ken in disguise? However, I think he 'survived' for a bit longer than Chris 'cos I did a quick headcount after the fracas. Now, Tom, about my message which disappeared .... something weird has happened to Irene's Goodbye Thread - it still had 141 replies this morning (mine at about 8.30pm last night made it 142 for a while), yet was near the top of the pile. So maybe your words of wisdom have also been removed. Incidentally, talking to an IT friend yesterday, it appears that there are programmes which can search for key words or phrases and then just delete the message. So perhaps that is what has been going on. BUT I just cannot remember what I had written - something about 'lack of charisma' in GR's dealings and their commitment to commercialism and exploitation of us poor, sad granny-hunters. Let's see if this one goes down the tubes too .... J x

Jane, Necro was around a little longer than Chris, but only by a few hours. Just to clear up your confusion though, Necro wasn't Ken, but Ken is Tom, Kiltmon, PC Cook and just about everyone else except Dick and Harry. He's also under the threat of suspension, so you may not see him around much. Since he's not very good at behaving himself and all that. Hope this helps. LOL :) Rebs.

Hi Kim Sorry that wasn't me I actually don't know who that Pat was could be one of a few who just changed the last name because of the content of thread, lol. wouldn't blame them wanting to be a little anonymous. Think things will never improve now, there is no going back. Maybe people should come together and try and do something about what's going on instead of people just giving up on the first hurdle. There'll be no one left at this rate. Can't imagine whats happening to the threads either? Pat x

Joy Report 10 Jun 2005 11:17

methinks the ''Wish me luck'' thread on tips will be gone soon. Still, it's on here, too! :-) Joy

Pat Report 10 Jun 2005 11:20

I think they be getting proof readers in soon so no thread escapes the eagle eyed police. Its ridiculous Pat x

Jane Report 10 Jun 2005 11:24

Reb, Aw gawd! I can't cope with all these identity swaps .... considered it myself for a bit, but didn't because I was worried I'd forget who I was!!! Thanks for the explanation ... so, I guess Necro was Laird or Keith, I did know once but lost the plot somewhere along the line! Will be sorry if 'Tom' gets sent into the corner as well. We're all 'mostly harmless' most of the time, but once provoked .... why oh why must someone upset the applecart? Cheers! Jane x

I am waiting to see if my ''Genealogists help police inquiry solve a mystery'' is deemed to be advertising for another site. I hope not, it should be good publicity for genealogy! :-) Joy

Jane

Jane Report 10 Jun 2005 12:11

Joy, Clearly Rootsweb are keen for all the advertising they can get. And, as a free board, it's obviously a good alternative to this one .... so watch your thread vanish! That apart, it just shows what good detectives we've all become - I know that my own ability to investigate things has improved immeasurably .... mainly thru' help and suggestions from GR board members and some existing genealogical contacts. Doubt the Met would hire me though!! Regs Jane

Unknown Report 10 Jun 2005 12:14

Jane, Necro is Laird, Guy is Keith, I could give you a few more, but you probably wouldn't believe me. What do you think TC? LOL :))))) And at the moment there are two separate 'wish me luck' threads on Tips.

Jane

Jane Report 10 Jun 2005 13:52

Rebs, Thanks for that .... just goes to prove I'm only partially senile! You're right, I wouldn't believe the rest!!! Glad also to note that you've now found a 'cause' ..... Late night or early morning for you??? Jx

Unknown Report 10 Jun 2005 14:15

11 pm here Jane, Just reading through the thread. Chris was kicked off permanently for posting the same thread a hundred thousand times, no warning, just suddenly denied all access, and all evidence of him removed. Laird was booted off a few hours later for inciting a riot and because he upset someone on general. He was given notice though. As for my 'cause' you'll have to wait and see. LOL :))

The Border Reiver Report 10 Jun 2005 14:31

Hi Rebs etc. Its 9:24 p.m. here and I've just been reading the thread - it's good to see a few people supporting Necro & Chris but I think the repercussions are going deeper than the original moaners anticipated. Threads are disappearing all over the place because GR have backed themselves into a corner and as a result they are being forced to enforce the rules or be accused of victimisation [that's my reading between the lines] Friar

Unknown Report 10 Jun 2005 14:46

Hi Friar, yeah, your right. stuff going awol everywhere. Guess that's what happens when sanctimonious prats whinge about a harmless thread. The repocussions are wide spread. How are you anyway? Nice weather in WA. Brissie has been beautiful, although the nights are cold.
