Now Dorothy remind me was it a stroke she had? I remember a film called The Patricia Neale Story, about her life

PennyDainty

PennyDainty Report 1 Feb 2005 22:09

John i think that was The Hustler (the original) then the remake of that was The Colour Of Money with Tom Cruise

John

John Report 1 Feb 2005 22:09

Here's one I missed the beginning so I gave up watching it. An aged woman relates her story and in flashbacks we see the woman as a younger person. Are you able to name the actress, the English beau with a small mo, and Paul Newman was also in it. And of course the title!

John is the English man with the small mo David Niven?

PennyDainty

PennyDainty Report 1 Feb 2005 22:22

WasDavid Niven in that one Dorothy? Havn't heard of it myself but he is the only Englishman I could think of with a "small mo" LOL

John

John Report 1 Feb 2005 22:24

Yes, Christine - it was David Niven and Dorothy got the title - Lady L BUT who played Lady L? Her name has already been mentioned a few threads down.

PennyDainty

PennyDainty Report 1 Feb 2005 22:26

Gina Lollobrigida?

John

John Report 1 Feb 2005 22:26

Not her, however her last name starts with "L" a concidence?

PennyDainty

PennyDainty Report 1 Feb 2005 22:29

Sophia Loren?

John

John Report 1 Feb 2005 22:31

That it was - what I saw of the film Sophia's interpretation of an old lady was good particularly the quavering voice before we see her as a young lady at a brothel. I changed channels at that point having missed an early part of the story.
