Jane Report 29 Nov 2013 22:00

I have a Robin who appears when I fill up the window feeder. But he sits on a wrought iron hook outside the back door and sings at me.I then put a few little fruit pellets on the patio table and before I even walk away it is down and eating them :-D.It is so sweet :-D :-D
Not around now until later on Sunday as we are off to a wedding tomorrow .I need to get the overnight bag packed and my glad rags sorted.

Aaw that is sweet Jane, I love Robins even if theya re squabbly little birds. We did have one here but not seen him for a while. In fact still not seen many birds feeding since the sparrow hawk's visit. :-(

Haven't seen our little robin for a while too Ann. There are still lots of gulls flapping around and loads of starlings too..... all very hungry and noisy!

Jane I hope you are enjoying yourself at the wedding this weekend.

I did have a lovely weekend. The Bride looked beautiful and her little Bridesmaids were so sweet .I got through a load of tissues lol.
I filled the window feeder right to the top before I went and was quite surprised to see some food still in it when I got home. But the Coconut hanging on the tree was empty.

I don't know if I said before but there seem to be so many Crows around at the moment. Not in my garden but in the top couple of fields up the road. When I drive up ,there are usually a group of them in the road, even when there is no road kill.
I think they are Crows.I get confused with Rooks and Crows and Ravens.

kandj Report 2 Dec 2013 21:35

I have spotted a Crow or is it a Rook or a Raven?........ I am like you Jane and can't really tell the difference. Need to do my homework methinks.

Jane

Jane Report 2 Dec 2013 22:23

Jane

Jane Report 3 Dec 2013 15:50

We have a large Female Pheasant wandering around in the back garden this afternoon :-D

Ann ,where is Jude? I haven't seen her on the boards for ages :-S

Diamonds-R-A-Girls-Best-Friend Report 3 Dec 2013 22:45

Jane it's rooks that are normally seen in flocks ................. or is it crows:-D seriously it is rooks that flock and several rooks will nest in the same tree where as crows normally nest one pair to a tree.........I think ;-)

Jane

Jane Report 4 Dec 2013 17:43

It must be Rooks then Lesley :-D Judging by the numbers lol

Another fly by by the sparrow hawk, this time it actually landed on the flat bird table. No wonder we are not seeing any birds it must be resident in the area. :-( :-(

Jane

Jane Report 4 Dec 2013 21:00

Ann ,OH said a Sparrow Hawk was sat on the roof of his car in the drive a couple of days ago.I wish I had seen that.
This morning there was a flurry of birds all of a sudden .They were legging it.The reason was there were 2 Red Kites. Both flew really low over the house.I did manage to get a pic of one,but it was a bit too far over next door by the time I snapped it :-S

Lots of interesting birds in your garden Jane. Only blackbirds, thrushes, sparrows,, doves, pigeons, magpies and starlings in and around ours but still amazing to watch.

Jane Report 6 Dec 2013 18:24

Kandj ,we are lucky where we are to get so many different birds. Many years ago when we had a fish pond we had a Rosella(parrot) I think that's what it was.I looked through the window and saw it drinking out of the pond.My next door neighbour came round with a massive fishing net and caught it and then put in his aviary .We put out a message on the local radio and someone heard it and even though the bird didn't belong to them came and took it as he kept that type of bird :-DSo I was very relieved then to know it was safe.

Jane

Jane Report 8 Dec 2013 13:27

We had 2 Herons fly really low over the garden earlier :-D.Not often you see 2 flying together.

kandj

kandj Report 8 Dec 2013 15:52

Jane

Jane Report 8 Dec 2013 16:01

They look Prehistoric .Bit like a Pterodactyl (Dinosaur bird)Pretty big lol.with their big legs and feet dangling behind them.It certainly makes you look when you see them flying !!

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 8 Dec 2013 16:19
