Earlier today I did not have to log in. Just now I had to input my email address and password, and three times after I had clicked on sign in, both the email address and password disappeared! :-|

The site wanted me to log in (kindly having put my email address and password for me) - I clicked on sign in once, twice, three times, and it worked.

Catherine, this happened to me as well the 'researcher! 'pinching' my rellies right down to my grandchildren. He got rude too when I asked him to remove them. Fortunately or not, he copied some of it incorrectly so his tree is not accurate.

I was so incensed, I stopped sharing my tree with anyone after that, although I do give information if I feel the request is for a genuine connection. I hate people collectors too.

Yes

All this has happened to me. I have been researching since 1980, long before interent. I found my name online in a researchers site who I gave access to. Not on, as I emailed him only take the family ( before 1800 ) you need.
I don't want to copy others work, I just wanted to know where the paricular information came from, as it was not on the marriage certificate and the death certificate did not have a mothers name. We also know that death certifcates are the most unreliable for information, especially if this person died in another country, and arrived her as an adult some 60 years before. If the person I contact through G R can say, fromthis parish record or oneworld tree ( very unreliable) then I can go to the source and check for myself.
Yes there are many "number grabbers" out there. I have also seen site where my grandfather had married some one other than my grandmother. This reasearcher told me I had hte wrong family. No I knew my granparents. have wedding pics with his parents. I don't have the wrong family.
A simple question to folk researching the same tree, where did you get the information from. Never had any replies from all the persons I sent emails too.

I forgot to post an announcement yesterday indicating that we were going to do an early morning deployment. My apologies about that. This deployment includes some changes to the login process behind the scenes and everyone should be required to log in again. There are a number of other changes that will be detailed in this weeks technical update blog. Including much needed performance ones on the home page and login process.

Kense

Kense Report 20 Mar 2012 09:46

That's good news Phil, let's hope it has done the trick.

Kense

Kense Report 20 Mar 2012 10:41

Rollo, I shouldn't think there are any of those people left after the last few months.

Phil
Wouldn't it make sense to also put your message on the announcement boards - that's where I looked first when I had a problem this morning!

Actually I think a new board is needed just for service announcements. I don't think regurgitating newspaper articles warrants the announcement boards.

LadyScozz

LadyScozz Report 20 Mar 2012 11:50

An announcement would have been nice.

Especially if it was posted on Facebook and NOT HERE!

I signed in again.......... and was taken to Friends Reunited......... why?? :-(

GlitterBaby Report 20 Mar 2012 12:19

Just wondering why we have an annoucement board if the GR Team do not post useful information on it. After the event would be better than not at all.

Why should we have to come across a posting from the Team by chance

Communication from the Team is not getting any better

AnninGlos Report 20 Mar 2012 13:07

How absolutely infuriating when for 2 weeks now I have not had to log in at all and thought all this nonsense was behind us. Advance warning would have been good. I didn't have to loog in first thing, then ten minutes ago I did, and then I had to log in again to add reply. So sick of it. :-(
