Hi Mike
I hope you had a good long lie down, and rested your fingers, as they have been very busy today, thank you for all this info, and also the translation , no good at real olde english myself so wouldn't of known what was meant..I have done a search on the 1841 census and Giles Badmickle (see what i have to put up with)was a frame work knitter, living on Back Lane in Barkby, his son was living there to and is also a FWK
My son is in the cubs and has recently come back from a weekend away, think he bought half of the field back with him,he was filthy worn out ,but thoroughly enjoyed himself.
Its late now so if your still up Mike get to bed as those fingers need their beauty sleep.

Mike

Whar a luverley box of tricks you have

Thank you once again, Joseph born about 1837 was my Grt Grandfather x 2 I have just received his death cert 1923 which states he was 89 this would mean he could have been born before 1837, although it was his Grandson in Law who registered so his true age was probably unknown

Hi Mike
I biked over to Barkby as i dont live that far from there, and walked around St Marys looking at the stones , unfortunately there were no Bad Mike le's there, or even Barnacles, nice ride over though and i do need the exercise.
I didn't realise that there are as many Barnacles as there is in Leicester but they must all be somehow related as the names are repeated over and over.
Thanks for all your hard work, and i hope you have rested those fingers....lol
going to have an hour looking at births for the two possible parents you found, Donna :-)

Hi there,
Wonder if anyone can show me the way! lol
One line of my family lines from Leicester ( the Evans family) owned a shoe manufacturing manufacturing business in Leicester for many years, going into liquidation in the 60's. It went way back to 1830 when it started and at times they had factories in Birmingham and Norwich too. George Evans and Sons. The shoe line was call something like Evanesse or Evanease? Is there any way of finding out about it from the internet or anywhere?

Oh and Hi Mike! Waving! Remember Fiona (Caroline's daughter, we're rellies) I finally moved back to England with my family : )

I‘m still working on your inquiry…….

The Staff at the Records Office are looking to see if a list of
Coal Mine Managers in the Ashby de la Zouch District exists…….
They seem to think if there was one.........

Then Kew in London would hold it……

Now…… If I have been following the right Jacob………

He is still in Yorkshire on the 1911 Census returns.

The Search continues…….

Hello Mike
I wonder if you can help me. I have a Thomas Gelsthorpe marrying a Phebe(Phoebe) Swann at St Margarets, Leicester on 23/10/1825. I would love to know who Thomas' parents were, or where he came from. Are there any such details available?
Thanks so much, Sue

I just asked for info about Thomas Gelsthorpe. Would you also be able to tell me who the parents of George Henry Gelsthorpe, born 1863 in Leicester are? I would be so grateful.

Thanks, Sue
