Yes Peter..I see what you mean..but unless you tell me the parents or parent of the John Thomas Hudson 1876..I will stick to my guns......was he the son of Marian Hudson before she married??

Since John Thoma Bentley was the eldest son of Joseph and Marian it may well be that he was born out of wedlock..but then became Hudson on marriage of Marian to Joseph..............just too much of a co-incidence that the two JT's were born in the same year.........and I can find no sign of a birth or baptism for John Thomas Hudson.......

My assumption, rightly or wrongly is they are the same person..

as for Mabel.....if she was simply staying overnight with her grandparents in 1901..why is she missing in 1911???? John and Mary were living at 2 Millhouses on both occasions....

Do you have any knowledge of either of the parents of JT Hudson??

Derek

Derek Report 24 Sep 2011 23:12

Derek.

Thanks Derek - that confirmed that the info I have come across is correct - much appreciated.

Yes, it's the elusive Charles Bradshaw snr that's that worry - I haven't been able to locate a record for his birth as unsure of who his parents may be or marriage to Sarah!!

Benjamin is my 2xGGF so have that info - you can't locate anything for Charles jnr by any chance? I am unable to find him after the 1861 census, so many variables.

At the mo, the closest I have is a possible marriage of a charles to a Maria Edwards b. 1850c. in Birmingham and having a child Florence in 1870c. Handsworth, Staffordshire - not sure on validity tho.

These area are possibly out of your record sets but any pointers in the right direction would be really appreciated.

Many thanks for you hard work.

Hi Derek
I have been looking at my records (I am not very tidy or organized with my records) I have found a copy of a Will which states that John Thomas Hudson was the brother of Joseph Ernest Bentley the son of Joseph Bentley and Marian Bertha Hudson. On John's birth certificate it States MarianBerther Hudson his mother but no father so I think he must have been born out of wedlock.
Derek could you please look for any info on John Walton born about 1835 in Brassington Derbyshire he marrid Elizabeth Taylor 1857 in Brassington. They latter moved to Halfway,Eckington. I would like to know his parents.
Thanks again Derek I think your a STAR for all the work you do for every one.

Best Regards

Hello Peter........so i was right....JT Bentley and JT Hudson were the same person...........but that does not mean that Joseph bentley was not his father..don't forget JT was born 1876..his parents married 1878......or Marian could have been a naughty girl and Joseph took er and the baby. when he married her..I think the first case is more likely..don't forget Charles was born only a year later......

Alonzo.......would that be Alonzo Smith of Eckington??relative perhaps of Mary Emma Smith who married JT Hudson???

as for JOHN WALTON..well there's a thing........I have the Brassington Pr's............JOHN WALTON baptised 11.1.1835....mother Ann WALTON.....illegitimate ..widow.............
He married ELIZABETH TAYLOR 29.07.1857.on the birth entry his father is ANTONY WALTON..a Horse Dealer........they hd at least six children......

....WILLIAM WALTON married ANN WRIGHT 03.03.1824.

These are all stone cold facts.........and here is another stone cold fact.

William Walton born 04.07.1803 baptised 28.08.1803
Antony Walton born 04.05.1805 baptised 25.08.1805.........

both sons of William and Mary Walton

a certain supposition comes to mind...........

Derek...

Lindsey Report 26 Sep 2011 21:22

Hi Derek

Thank you for your kind offer. I have a John Revill, born 1790 in Langwith, Notts who was married to Ann E Lowe in 1815. I haven't been able to find his baptism or his parents on line and as I don't live in the area, can't go to the Nottinghamshire Records office. According to the 1841 census, he was born in Nottinghamshire.

If possible, could you please help me with this.

Many thanks

Lindsey

Derek Report 26 Sep 2011 22:49

Hello Lindsey........I don't know how well you know the geography of the area....Langwith..Nether Langwith. Cuckney and Scarcliffe are all villages on the derbyshire Notts border..all within a couple of miles of each other.....an area I know well and have researched at length.....

I cannot find John Revill in Notts 1790........but it is entirely possible that he was born in Notts and was baptised a stone's throw away in Scarcliffe Derbyshire...........06.11.1790 son of Francis and Mary.......and the same record has him marrying Ann Lowe at Cuckney 14.08.1815......I'm not giving you this as a solution.....but the baptism and the marriage are facts..whether they are related i will do my best to confirm.

Derek.

Hi Derek

Thank you so much for the informaton. I have been trying to find this out for a few years now.

We visited Langwith and Cuckney a couple of years ago from the North East and went to see the church there but don't remember Scarcliffe. My husband has just looked at the map and it is just up from Langwith Junction which we visited also.

I look forward to hearing from you again if you can confirm.

Many thanks again.

Lindsey....the 1841 Census does not give place of birth...just a "Y" or a "N" in answer to the question "Born in County"......John and his wife both have a "Y".and the place is UPPER LANGWITH which was in derbyshire in 1841..and still is!! google langwith!! its in derbsyshire!...

Which appears to solve your problem.

Derek.

EDIT.00.27.......FRANCIS REVELL married MARY UNWIN at Cuckney 20.09.1785......parents of John b 1790 Scarcliffe derbyshire.

Hi Derek
So sorry for the delay in replying - there's a massive gap between the last message and this one for some reason and I didn't go far enough down to see it.
Anyway, thank you so much for the information, I will have to go it through because the 1941 census does actually say Nether Langwith, Notts and he's living with his wife Ann, daughter Elizabeth and grandaugher Mary. Elizabeth was my ancester and her son William Revill (1845).
I think perhaps there could be two John Revills but thanks again for your trouble.
I must say I thought Cuckney and Langwith are lovely villages. We really enjoyed our visit especially looking through the church yard which was filled with wild flowers. I didn't find any Revills there but there was some ancesters on the maternal side.
