HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 20 Aug 2014 19:23

Ooh Flip.....

Had a reply from the records office....they do searches at £32/hour.....so may take them up when I get paid lol!

That's interesting re Harry/Henry Bevan....Church Road is quite near to Constance Street...Constance Street on the left hand side of Caerleon Road (heading towards Caerleon) and Church Road on the right hand side.

Will have a play but, of course, Bevan (like Llewellyn) is a very common Welsh name ...derived from ab Evan meaning son of Evan :-)

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 25 Apr 2015 17:26

After this thread was posted the other day

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/ancestors/thread/1351388

Patricia, kindly went to Taunton to follow up her query on an address in Bridgwater and, whilst there, even more kindly, had a look for Charles and Eva.

This was her finding:

From autumn 1922 up until spring 1926 living at that address was John and Mary Randell, also a Thomas Squires. From Spring 1926 there were no records for no 45.

So Maria died on 09 May 1922, and Charles is on the ER at 36 Constance Street up to Autumn 1922. On 18 November 1922, he made his will in favour of Eva Bevan at a Bridgwater solicitors. The address is not given, just Charles David Llewellyn of Bridgwater

His address when he died in 1926 was 45 Wellington Road; her address when probate was granted was 45 Wellington Road.

So where were they between November 1922 and his death in May 1926?

Out of interest I have sent for the marriage certificate of Eva A Bevan (December 1927).

Flip Report 26 Apr 2015 12:24

Can't believe you're still on this one Jude :-D

Must have cost you a fortune in certificates & wills, I'll look out for the marriagedetails when next on line - fingers crossed there's an address for her otherwise how will you know it's her?

HeyJudeB4Beatles

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 26 Apr 2015 13:00

That's what I am hoping Flip!

But you see...I'm a Scorpio as you know.....perfectionist :-)

HeyJudeB4Beatles

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 5 May 2015 19:08

Well it came and it cannot possibly be her. She is Eva Agnes bevan born 1901 in Bristol ...well documented. So until the 1921 census ...if it is ever released...I am stuck!

Jude

Flip

Flip Report 5 May 2015 19:44

Oh well it was worth a punt, but I think probate records are usually pretty accurate so more likely she was just plain Eva Bevan.

Did the person checking the ER look a couple of years after 1926to see if she turned up?

HeyJudeB4Beatles

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 5 May 2015 19:53

Yes from 1926 there were no records for the address....so in 1911 he declares one child born and died whilst his wife declares only the living children in bury. So either she was lying or the dead child was his and Eva's. But where or who was Eva in 1911......Only the next census is going to help....

Jude

Flip

Flip Report 5 May 2015 20:05

You can't be sure it was a child with Eva, it could have been Edith but she read the form correctly and only declared children of her current relationship. Then again he may have had another relationship in between!

Like you say, not much chance until the next census although she has proved elusive on the earlie ones.

HeyJudeB4Beatles

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 6 May 2015 05:59

Yes Flip...but she lied when she said she had been married for ten years in that relationship because she wasn't married (OK I know this was the norm if living in sin) to her partner and the ten years referred to the marriage with Charles! Liars the pair of them it seems!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I've been down the road of trying to find a child born and died......too many Llewellyns and Bevans!

and I keep looking at the earlier post

Western Mail, Cardiff - 16th March 1918

Eva Bevan, a middle aged woman, of Clytha Park Road, who said she was a native of Monmouth, was at Newport sent to prison for 2 months on charges of obtaining provisions by false pretences.

I reckon in 1918, middle aged would probably have covered from thirties on, which would be the right age for her to be with Charles...oh well a challenge for another day

Jude

Flip

Flip Report 6 May 2015 11:33

You need to get back to the RO again and check out Clytha park road - Charles didn't appear with his mother on the ElR until 1920! See if you can find either of them -even if just to eliminate.

Yes was thinking of that this morning - I finish early on Friday for a week off...so may just call into the library then!

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 6 May 2015 18:14

Clytha Park Road has a junction with Oakfield Road so the first two links are definitely the right Brenhilda. The third one is the on other side of the river so not the same one.

Worth a look-see....
