He was also sentenced to two months imprisonment arising out of the sale of a book of clothing coupons. (The coupons were in the name of Sheila Dorothy Gore)

Did Derek and Maureen officially divorce?

I wondered if Derek remarried?

Coincidentally there is a marriage of Derek J Gore to an Ann L Meadows- although I think the names could just be coincidence.

There is also a marriage for John D Gore to a Joan E Gore- John is later listed as Derek on the electoral registers- and is registered until 2012 in Cheltenham. The fact that Joan has the same surname could indicate they were living together before marriage and she had already taken his surname. Joan still lives in Cheltenham.

I'm trying to do too much at once! I need to switch this off for now and I'll have another dig tomorrow.

AustinQ....We have made contact by letter to Joan E Gore and a family member of another Gore family whom may be connected to us, is knocking on her door for a chat...hopefully this weekend. If Joan is the correct person, John Derek Gore died 3 years ago but I can't check past 2013.
We did wonder if Maureen divorced Derek....she says yes. Her next husband was Franklin Clayton Holt who was American. I have found the divorce papers in Florida but they married in Germany which has been a nightmare to find anything.
The man who is visiting Joan is also called John Derek Gore and he thinks his father Arthur John Gore is our John Derek Gore's cousin......speak to you soon.

How did Ronald change his name to John Derek........or Derek as in the 1950 newspaper report...

at the time of his time in the army National Service was still in force..if he got called up then the army had his details..

Yes, Kay- Daphne B J Gore, born 1920 was a sibling of Queenie, but the Daphne B Gore that I mentioned was born in 1950. Given the information supplied in another thread, I wondered if it could be a daughter of Queenie.

The details I spotted in the paper gave the name Yvonne Evelyn Gore as the sister she had the Post office book from. Can you give details of the newspaper where is mentions a Daphne Evelyn as sister?

Hi guys......my mum Maureen told us that she only knew her husband as Derek.....she was surprised to see him as John Derek when I showed her the copy of wedding certificate and she asked who on earth was Ronald Gore listed as father.....adamant that no father was around. She said he was an only child and had never met anyone other than Derek and his mother....Queenie. Could it be possible that he was called Ronald John Derek and his father was Ronald Gore....even though he wasn't around.
Also, I can't track an Yvonne Evelyn Gore as Queenie's sister.

I'm looking at the census data for the Gore's in Gretton, Winchcombe. The heads of the different households are mainly born in Newbury Berkshire. Considering how much land is occupied by the Gore families in Winchcombe, does anybody think that they might have been travellers.
