Thanks PH for the info............well guys, I have ordered the birth certificate for Ronald Gore 1931 in Winchcomb. Let's hope it's good news.
Could be coincidence but on Ancestry.com, I attached this Ronald to my tree then it suddenly gave me a suggested record to look at......Derek Gore living at 6 Quedgely Court with my mum.

As posted on page three!

In 1957 they're listed at the same address but Flat 6, but they're not there in 1959.

Glad the certificate is ordered- let's hope we can all sleep better then!

PricklyHolly Report 30 Oct 2016 12:31

Regarding your post of 21st Oct 2016 18:12........

"We have made contact by letter to Joan E Gore and a family member of another Gore family whom may be connected to us, is knocking on her door for a chat...hopefully this weekend. If Joan is the correct person, John Derek Gore died 3 years ago but I can't check past 2013."

Did you hear anything back from Joan ??

According to the 2014 ER.......Joan and Derek were still together.

Kevin

Kevin Report 30 Oct 2016 21:16

PH
When I spoke to the family of Joan E Gore, they said that John Derek had died 3 years ago in Cheltenham but we have no confirmation that this is him yet. They were going to visit Joan last week but haven't been yet.
They do recall him as not too nice and loved an argument......charming.

Kay- the links you've posted aren't working.

The second link appears to be re a 2012 article re John Gore age 43 with a mother Annie and girlfriend Sonia. If that's the article you meant to post, it might be easier if you explain the connection as I don't see it.

Hi everyone.......the certificate has arrived. Still leaves me in the dark though. Here we go..... Ronald born to Queenie Gore on 6th June 1931 in Gloucester Street Infirmary, Winchcombe. No father listed. Queenie is a domestic servant in Gretton at the time of birth. The interesting part is that the informant of the birth to the registrar is E E Gibbous or Gibbons. This person is the occupier of the infirmary and Ronald was registered 21 days later.
Does this mean that Queenie was still in hospital or that the baby was left there. How did baby become John Derek........come on guys, give me your thoughts, please. :-S

PricklyHolly

PricklyHolly Report 5 Nov 2016 21:39

Well, at least you now know for certain that Ronald born 1931........was one of the 3 children born to Queenie.

Perhaps Ronald was fostered out and whoever fostered him, changed his name to John Derek?

After the break-up of the marrige between John Derek Gore and Maureen..........John/Derek appears as Ronald Gore living with mother Queenie Brain on the 1962 ER....living at 21 Coventry Close, Gloucestershire.

Ask yourself..........who else could that Ronald be with Queenie in 1962??

When you say........."Come on guys, give me your thoughts please"

I think we have already done that, to the point where we keep repeating ourselves. ;o))

If he was fostered out at an early age and his name was changed....perhaps he didn't even know his birth was registered in the name of Ronald........and on the 1962 ER, Queenie automatically gave his name as Ronald.

As sister Daphne was born much later, maybe she also didn't know that his birth name was Ronald.

Hopefully Joan will be able to tell you when Derek celebrated his birthday.

:-)

I agree with PH.

The certificate doesn't leave you in the dark- it's a positive step forward. You now know that Queenie had a son of the right age (you were previously doubting this). It gives you something factual to work on.

People change names for all sorts of reasons. In 1939 the 1922 Ronald was living with Queenie- perhaps the name change was to distinguish between them (instead of Big Ron & Little Ron!), or perhaps it was his father's name, or maybe he got into a little trouble and it was easier to change. None of the family seemed to stick with their original birth names, so I doubt it was a big deal.

Once you have discovered Derek's birthday from Joan, that certificate just might be the key.

Kevin Report 6 Nov 2016 17:15

Thanks guys......it does state Ronald Gore as father to John Derek Gore..aka Ronald on the wedding certificate to Maureen Cox. So maybe his dad was indeed called Ronald but was never put on the birth certificate. Praying that Dino Bishop can get the info we need from his mother Daphne. She may of course, not know the truth or not want to tell.

I can't find any Ronald Gore RAF pilot officer who could be my grandad. I think this mystery of my family will have to stay in the dark until further records are released. I also tried to access the records of Gloucester Street Infirmary but they can't be accessed for the year of 1931. Why can I access Army and Navy records but not RAF.....

Kay???? Report 6 Nov 2016 22:25

Kevin have you had a word with the GRO.to see if mid to late 1932 birth is in their records but for reasons not showing on indexes.?its known these errors do occur.
going on Ronalds birth June 1931.

EE Gibbons, 1939 shows in Cheltenham an Evelyn E Gibbons retired Matron,

It was a usual occurance for registrars to visit hospitals to take birth registrations, and happened up into the late 1960s.

Hi everyone. A big thanks for all your help and comments. We have now had proof of many family members. I have found 10 half siblings, 3 of which I have spoken to. 3 cousins of which 1 has sent over photos and 5, 2nd cousins of which 2 have spoken to me and have also sent photos. 2 aunts and 2 uncles, Daphne Brenda Gore has sent me her photo.
My dad, John Derek Gore AKA Ronald of 1931 has been confirmed as dead but his 2nd wife, Joan E E Gore is still alive in Bamfurlong, Cheltenham. We are desperately awaiting a photo from her of my dad.
I am supposed to be the identical of my dad....will wait to see.
The Ronald Gore born to Doris Emily Gore in 1922 and raised by Maria Knight for most of his life was the Ronald who married Ann Florence Kerr in 1959. He was also the godfather to Dino Bishop, Daphne Brenda Gore's son.
This has been a rollercoaster ride and is by no means finished but at least I now have some closure on my parents. I don't think I will see my mother again as other members of the family have said the complete opposite to her story.....they say that Derek divorced Maureen because she was the won off with all the men......adds up......11 kids, of which 8 were dumped and Derek's 2nd marriage to Joan lasted many years until his death. I have helped to answer questions posed by the Gore to Kerr marriage as well and have forwarded copies of certificates to that family side. Will keep you all posted about the main photo and info I want on my dad. :-D

Thank you for updating us Kevin.

It certainly was a rollercoaster of a ride for all of us, in trying to figure it all out.

I think it is fair to say that Austin and i were tearing our hair out at times!! :-D

Good luck!

So pleased to hear from you Kevin- I almost posted on here yesterday to see how you were getting on. Glad it's all coming together.

I hope Joan comes through with the photo for you.

Best wishes

I spoke at length to Joan Gore last night. She was very shocked. Joan knew that John Derek was married to Maureen but he never told her about myself and my siblings. They met at a tea dance and were together for quite some time before getting married. They had one daughter called Corrina who lives in Tenby Wales and has 4 children. They stayed together until my dad's death 13th April 2012.
She described my dad as a very calm, loving and hard working man. When I told her about Maureen's story, she said that there was no way on earth that Derek could have hit her.
I asked her about him being born Ronald, she laughed but said "yes, that's true".
John Derek did not know this until he had to apply for a new driving licence. He needed a copy of his birth certificate and was gobsmacked when it arrived. Queenie had died so he had no-one to question.
Joan also described Queenie as a wonderful and helpful lady who dearly loved John Derek. Joan was very happy when Queenie finally married William Brain and had her own happiness.
My dad was ill for some time, starting with lung problems. When he was told that cancer was now in his lungs, he didn't tell Joan for a while. He continued to work for GIS that demonstrate wheelchairs for the severely disabled. Soon he gained liver cancer too and a brain tumour. He nursed Joan through a hip operation in February 2012 then took to hospital in April and died within a week.
Joan is sending us some photos and will stay in contact. Another family member is going to the cemetery this week to take photos of my dad's plaque. He was cremated at Bouncer's Lane, Cheltenham.
She wishes she had known about me.......My mum is obviously telling us lies about my dad......he seems to have been a good man.
