Hi all,
Is anyone free at all to look for a Harriet Shaw born 1904 West Derby Liverpool, On the 1911 census she is living with her parents (William Henry Shaw and Sarah Ann Shaw - surname is listed at Shane in error) and siblings at 68 Buckingham Street, Everton, Liverpool. I believe they later moved to 20 Boswell Street, Off Lodge Lane, Liverpool. I am trying to find if Harriet married at all and anything else at all. I believe she died in the early 80s in Liverpool but that is all the details I have for her.

Harriet was my late grandfather's older sister.
Many thanks

If she died in the 1980's then she can be identified from her exact date of birth - so you could try to purchase her birth certificate.

Have you tried to find her in 1939?

If you find Harriet still unmarried living with siblings/parents on the 1939 census, it will give you a date to work from for any marriage.

Interested in the 1976 one. I was working from when my grandad died in 1984. I was told it was only a few years before but maybe not

There's this entry, but the transcription doesn't make sense

Guther (Thompson) Household (2 People) 20 Boswell Street , Liverpool C.B., Lancashire, England

First name(s) Last name(s) DOB Sex Occupation Marital status Schedule Schedule Sub Number

William Guther (Thompson) 02 Jul 1906 Male Contractor Labourer Married 11 1
Harriet Guther 22 Jul 1904 Female Unpaid Domestic Duties Married 11 2

Thompson is not associated with William Guther or any other name on the page
Harriet Guther is not shown on the image.
There are 3 closed entries after William's.

There is a Thompson family in the household listed above him and note that in the household below is an Isabella who seems to have started life as a Shaw.

Yes there was a sister called Isabella born in 1922. Other siblings are Edith May Shaw 1902, William H 1906, Frederick J 1908, Edward 1911, Ann O 1913, Robert 1916, Thomas 1918, Harry 1921 and Arthur 1926

Do you know Isabella's date of birth or who she married please?

Dea Report 22 Mar 2017 20:20

If this was her marriage then there is a very good chance that the Harriet who married Mr. Guther is the one you are looking for as Isabella is living with the Guthers in 1939 (even though she is classed as in a seperate household within that address:

Marriages Sep 1945 (>99%)

Shaw Isabella Van De Merwe Liverpool N. 8b 1243
Van De Merwe Johannes L Shaw Liverpool N. 8b 1243

Solar

Solar Report 22 Mar 2017 20:37

Does it give the address on that census for Isabella? Thank u

Solar

Solar Report 22 Mar 2017 20:55

On Toxteth Cemetry website has a death of a Harriet Guther 18.11.1976 and states addrss as 20 Boswell Street. So it's definitely her . Thank u all everso x

Dea

Dea Report 22 Mar 2017 20:57

It appears to be the same address as William & Harriet - i.e. 20 Boswell St., Liverpool.

P.S. - Yes, you have to have a paid subscription to FMP site to view the 1939 census but if you would like to post Harry's details on here we could take a look for you.
