Yes it is her. Thank you so much. I phoned the cemetery last week and they gave me a number to phone, but every time I rang it, it cut off.

I would like to thank you for the very helpful info yoiu gave me yesterday. I do now know at least where my great grandmother Mary Lynn is buried.

Do you have any suggestions how I can find her date of birth, I dont even know where she was born, but would suspect Ireland. Have looked at the Irish geneology site you told me about, but the name is so common.

I dont know her mothers name either, all I know is her father was James White. I got that from her marriage cert.

I am sure it would help if I just had her date of birth and her mothers name , I just dont know where to go from here.

She seems to have disappeared from 1909 to 1949 I know where she was from 1949 onwards.

She is not on the 1911 census but my great grandfather is, you kindly found out for me that she lost hew 9 month old baby and I am wondering if maybe it made her ill, as she lost another child to.

We are not sure but we believe she had a sister named Frances who may have gone to the USA, possibly Philidelphia, unfortunatly the people who would know have passed.

We've tried to find her, but as I showed her age varied on the 2 documents you have for her and were either of those actually correct? As it is there is a possible variation of 5 years. What age does she give on that 1897 marriage certificate?

Her Father's name could have been made up - it just looks better than the alternative. Or her Mother could have married a James White after her birth and she thought of him as her Father.

The 1901 census says she was born in Antrim - but under what name? Will have another look around.

Deborah Report 2 Feb 2018 17:32

It just says 'full age'

Thank you so much. I have been looking all day today as well. Cant even find a name for her mother.

Deborah

Deborah Report 2 Feb 2018 17:37

On my Grandfathers birth certificate, his name is John Lester Campbell Lynn, his DOB 3rd Jan 1900, she has her name as Mary Moore Lynn formally White.

No one knows where the 'Moore' comes from.

Yes, I posted that Birth Registration yesterday with the details from the image which has his names in this order- John Campbell Lester Lynn. I would also wonder where the Campbell came from.

Deborah

Deborah Report 2 Feb 2018 20:39

I do know the answer to that. William Lester Lynn's father was John Lynn. He married Margaret Campbell on 30th June 1865. Both of their DOB's I believe are appx. 1842.

Margaret Campbell was Scottish and the Campbell is the name of the Campbell Scottish tartan.

My father told me that the Campbell part was traditionally passed down.

Margaret Campbells father was William Campbell and his wifes name was Margaret.

I have yet to confirm this, but I believe her maiden name was Sterret, although there seems to have been a change in the spelling over time, it seems to sometimes be Stirrat

Hi, I would like to thank you for all your help last week, you have given me some very valuable information which I would probably never have found myself, even my Dad didnt know that his father had a little brother who died aged 9 months.

My cousin and myself are still trying to find our Great Grandmother Mary Moore Lynn nee White. All we know is her father was James White and from her marriage certificate her father was living at 23 Dock Street or Place (cant read it) near or in Belfast . This was on 29th March 1897 when she got married. We have no date of birth for her but we know she died in 1958, GR found the details of her burial which was previously documented on this thread. I emailed the cemetery and they said they would look up the manual records but they did not come back to me, I was hoping to at least get a date of birth. I will chase it this week.

We do not know her Mothers name, but we do not know where the Moore comes from, so it may have been her Mums surname. We have searched and searched for her. We know where she was in 1901 from the census, she was living with our great grandfather and her son, our grandfather at 7 Curran St, Larne, Antrim. On the 1911 census our Great Grandfather William Lester Lynn and Grandfather John Campbell Lester Lynn are living at 7 Coopers Lane, Larne, but no Mary Lynn.

We know where she was from 1946 onwards, she was living in Ealing, at 54/56 Seaford Road, she was there until she went into a care home in Hampton Court where she died.

Its the time from 1901 to 1946; we cannott find anything for her, a date of birth and her mothers name may help, but we dont even have that. She is the only relative we have that we cannott account for and we are now at our wits end. We have both been searching for weeks.

I don't think you will get a Birthdate from the Burial Records, will just be her age...

Deborah

Deborah Report 6 Feb 2018 18:19

We just dont know where to go from here. We have about a 45 year gap, and dont know where to start looking. I doesnt help having a common name.

Deborah

Deborah Report 7 Feb 2018 17:12

I have found 2 records of a Mary Lynn who was discharged from the workhouse and I would like to find out if it is her.

19 July 1899 from City road workhouse(St Lukes workhouse)
Borough of Holborn

24 March 1922 from Britten St, Old and new workhouses
Borough of Kensington and Chelsea

These are around the area I would possibly expect to find her.

Is there any way of me getting this information from them.

I know that she knew Lady Guinness very well, we believe she was in service with her for a great many years, possibly during the missing years. 1909-1946.

It was the Guinness family who paid for her to go into a nursing home in Hampton Court, where she eventually died.

Also, is it possible to trace her through the 1939 register.

I know she was born in Ireland and was there until 1909, but the family then moved to London, abliet not all of them together.

New thread started by Deborah today - copied here:

Is it possible to get more information on a dishcharge from the workhouse.

You have helped me a lot this week with my Great Grandmother, Mary Lynn, we have found 2 entries of discharge from 2 workhouses at around the trime and place where I would have probably expected her to be.

Are you able to help me with more information to enable me to establish if this is her please?

19th July 1899 discharged from City road workhouse(St Lukes workhouse)
Borough of Holborn

and

24th March 1922 discharged from Britten St, Old and New workhouses

What I am after, if it is her, is where she was discharged to, and possible why she was in there, any other information would be a bonus.

I wasnt quite sure what to do, as I had marked my previous thread as answered.
