Hi Mary
The information you have found fits in with a birth cert that i sent for believing it was Henry Thomas Willats but the birth date was wrong ( 19th April )...I am almost sure it was 20th...also i think he just had one sister.. Is there any other way i can find his family background.. Your help is much appreciated. Dorothy.

Mary Report 16 Dec 2007 14:08

Hi Pam

I am 99.9% sure this is the Jones family in 1891,a few things have happened: Looks as if Mary J has died and Thomas has remarried and is now living in All Saints,B'ham, most of the children have left home including Edith A.
Check fathers occupation shown on Edith's marriage cert to make sure you have the correct family.

1891 55 Aberdeen St,Birmingham All Saints
Thomas Jones Head 46 Steel tube worker bBilston
Sarah J Jones Wife 36 b Dudley,Worcs
Esther L Jones Daur 13 Scholar b Bilston
Samuel Jones Son 11 Scholar b Bilston
Albert S Jones Son 6 Scholar b Smethwick,Staffs
William H Jones Son 4 Scholar b Smethwick

Edith A jones 14 Gen Dom Servant b Bilston living at 18 Coxwell Rd,Lady Wood,Birmingham
in the household of George F Davies 26 Professor of Music b Cardiff.

I could not find another Edith Jones with Father Thomas on 1881 or 1891 census.

I guess the age difference on marriage cert was an error made either by the registrar or by Edith when she gave age.

Hi Belinda
Sorry I have not been able to locate Joseph and Sarah Pearce on the 1841 census.

Barry/Pam Report 16 Dec 2007 14:24

hi mary , Thanks for the look up,these Jones's are a nightmare lol, thomas was an iron worker on marriage cert,as you say most of the kids seem to have gone but the yonger ones from 1881 are still here so I'll see if I can spot a death for Mary now , thanks again ,merry xmas ...Pam

Hi again Mary

I have been looking at the public trees on Ancestry and have found someone who appears to have Alfred (George) HOW and Ester, and Alfred HOW and Isabella in their tree. I am not a member and so am unable to send them a message. I would really appreciate it if you would contact them for me.

Mary Report 16 Dec 2007 22:46

Hi Julie
I have sent a message to the owner of the Public Tree asking if she is interested in getting in touch with you.
Will let you know if I get a reply.

Mary Report 16 Dec 2007 22:49

Hi Deborah
Sorry I am sure they are there somewhere in Harborne and have searched all census pages that I can find for Bridge St,but without success.I have a feeling that some pages are missing.

Mary Report 16 Dec 2007 22:52

Hi Dorothy
Did Mr Willats marry??If so you should be able to get his fathers name from the marriage cert, which would help to trace his family in his young days.

Dorothy Report 17 Dec 2007 11:10

Hi Mary

Thankyou for your help..I am now thinking this could be the Willats family and maybe i have had wrong information from relatives ( now deceased ) ..Yes he was married sometime between 1918 - 1923 ..Will let you know ( if i am able to find it ! )

Deborah Report 17 Dec 2007 15:11

GRMarilyn Report 17 Dec 2007 22:08

Hi Mary
Would you be a dear and look up a Thomas Ward b1831 Wyvestone Suffolk in 1851 census .I have been given him in 1841 census aged 10, but was told he cannot be found in 1851 census I really am at a stand still as I would like to know who his parents are, Now I expect he is no longer with his parents in 1851 census Sorry to bother you Regards Marilyn.

Mary Report 18 Dec 2007 10:06

Hi Marilyn
I have looked at 1841 for Wyverstone and whilst Thomas is not with his parents the only other Ward folks living in Wyverstone are a cople called James Ward 50 and Mary Ward 40.It therefore would be a possibility that these are his parents, both born in Suffolk and James appears to be an ag lab.

Merry Christmas
