Hi Sylvia
The marriage you are interested in is registered as follows:
Samuel Gribble/Sarah A White June Qtr 1892 Nantwich 8a 587.

To find more details from the cert you will have to purchase it from GRO using the Registration number as above.
It will not show dates of birth, only the age as declared at the time of the marriage.Only the names of both fathers with occupations will be shown.Mothers names are NOT shown on marriage certs.

Hi Mary..have been looking for Joseph for 2 years - gave up 6 months ago but he is bugging me so any help would be brill-here goes :

Joseph Rigby married Mary Ellen Stewardson 21/11/1892 in Liverpool on cert his age is 23 and in occupation says fireman ( think he was in steamship ) his father is John Rigby deceased...address is same for both bride and groom 36.sandheys st Liverpool.
On his daughters ( mary ellen Rigby's ) wedding cert 1919..they have his occupation as Coal Miner...
His grandaughter mary (deceased ) told her kids she remebered them both and mary was born 1919 so i think we can assum they were alive in the 1920's...what i am looking for is his birth..Joseph's daughters were Mary Ellen - Margaret - Maria...sometimes they called a daughter after the males mother....
A long shot but any help would be brill....Thanks Joanie

Hi Arthur
I have found the birth reg for John H W Wood Sept Qtr 1917 Woolwich 1d 1715

and a possible marriage, but the name of Mr Wood does not match with the info you gave.

Henry B I Wood/Ellen Walder June Qtr 1916 Woolwich 1d 2459

In order to be sure we have the correct people I advise you to purchase the birth cert for John from GRO.
This will show names of parents including mothers maiden name as a crosscheck and we can go from there.
I would be happy to help with further lookups after you have the info from birth cert.

Happy New Year
Regards
Mary

Hi Joanie
Not sure if you already have the Rigby family on 1901 census, but I have found them and have saved the image if would like to see it PM your Email addy and I will forward it to you.
Finding Josephs birth may not be that easy as there is a 3 year discrepancy between age shown on marriage cert and age shown on 1901 census.

Mary

Hello again Mary.

Wonder if I can pester you again for some help relating to the help you gave me previously.

I have now managed to trace my great grandmother Ellen Coleman in the 1901 census as living in Barking Essex. Father Edward and mother also Ellen. I am now stuck on tracing Edward back any further in the census and also to find a marriage. I have looked at some census' and bmd indexes but am not too sure as can't appear to find him. Wondered if you would mind having a look for me in the census and the marriage index to see if there are any likely ones so that I can send for certificates.

Thanks again

Zoe

Hi Lozzy
A blanket search is when a birth marriage or death lookup is requested but the person asking for the lookup has no idea of when the event took place.
Applies particularly to death lookups eg can you look for death of my grandad sometime between 1896 and 1929 name John Smith don't know where he died.
These are very time consuming and hard on the eyes as you may have to search hundreds of records.
You can see why I will not do them.

If I can help with your research just get in touch
