I have just watched Manchester United win that pleased me. What a lovely day it is here today. the family cooking cakes and dishing them up later for tea.

I am delighted by Caties news and hope she feels better soon. i hope that the twins and the baby are fine also.
That the funeral goes well also for Mel.

I take it Frank you do not want the list of the books you asked for . I am going now not to be on here again found it all very confusing and hurtful so bye everyone

I don't know, have been off the thread for a couple of days and it all kicks off. As Jane said enough's enough. The best way to deal with this Piers person is to just ignore and not respond to any comments made by him/her.

Wonderful news for Catie and her husband ..... congratulations ....... I'm not supposed to saying anything BUT there will be a new grandchild in my family next spring. Daughter doesn't want the rest of the family knowing until after 12 weeks, which is nearly up now anyway.

Jane

Jane Report 24 Oct 2010 18:27

Oh Maureen ,how lovely.More pics for us lol.Are you Nanny ,Granny.Nanna ????
Well Liz my biggest laugh (although it wasn't at the time) to do with ovens, was one Xmas day.I had my Mum and her sister staying.I had come down early and put the turkey in and set the timer for the oven to come on.Unkown to me Mum and Aunty Betty had tried to do toast in the grill and had fiddled with all the knobs.I went to check the turkey a bit later as I couldn't smell it cooking. The oven wasn't on.Mum had somehow knocked turned off the automatic button .Luckily I knew my next door neighbour was going out for his Xmas dinner ,so I rang him and begged use of his oven.I had to run round in my dressing gown with the turkey in the tray and shove it in his.About half an hour later I heard my oven switch on ,so legged it round to Trevors and whipped the Turkey out of his oven and got it back in mine.It turned out a treat thank goodness lol

Maureen

Maureen Report 24 Oct 2010 18:28

I don't think I will ever have that problem Liz, the oven is very rarely on and I don't know how the timer works ....LOL I am living off salads most of the time, although it's getting a bit cold now, might have to get the instructions out to see how the oven works !!!!

Off to have a soak and get warmed up then watch a bit of TV. BBL

Frank

Frank Report 24 Oct 2010 20:37

Son and DIL have gone now. Just Ros, Lewis and I. X factor is on, and I don't care if I see it or not.

When I was first married, a posh friend of my ex. invited us to dinner. We had a drink while the PHEASANTS cooked. I thought there was a funny smell coming from the kitchen, when she got the birds from the oven. She asked me to carve. It was then I realalised what the smell was. The CROPS were still filled with CORN. and had sweeated into the brest meat. It tasted horrible. So we ended up with Sausages. So much for these POSH people.

We had a smashing dinner, with Sticky toffee pudding or Steamed syrup pudding, or my merangue. Big No.one Son had masses on his dinner plate and cleared the lot. Then a bit of each of the sweets. Then a cup of tea and cake No wonder he weights 17 stone.!!!!

It's turned very cold out tonight. Turned the heating up and very cosy now.Won't envy you walking Chester in the morning Jane,

Hope all went well for your meeting this afternoon Mel, not the nicest of jobs, but must be done.
I didn't know Shelia was leaving us. I asked her for the titles of the books on CD. Won't be getting them now.

Mandy, are you safe to be left alone, !!! not putting the pie in the OVEN. You silly Bugge#. and then when it is heated you are not sure if you want it.
Mant years ago. I came home after a session on the beer. Opened a tin of Fray Bentos. Steak and Kidney pie. Put it in the oven, and fell asleep on the sofa. Needless to say the smell of burning woke me up. Opened the oven and there was a cinder.!!!! Ended up with a sandwich.

Ros is NANNY. and when he wants to wind her up it's GRANDMA. She is so soft with him, he just asked for a bacon sarnie and she got it for him. In the morning he will want another, and that will be my job, then a bowl of cerial, then toast and marmalade. It will be Ham and cuecumber for lunch if we are home, or it might be Chicken Mac. or lunch at morriso#s He won't let us forget the cinema and a chinese. Thats all in five days. Glad we haven't got him for a month !!!!

Freezing here now.Brrrrrrrr!.I have my warm dressing gown on,watching the X Factor and then hopefully still awake for Downton Abbey.

Fiona

Fiona Report 24 Oct 2010 20:46

Hi Mandy
Katie crawling allready how time flies, they always go where they shouldn't

Sofia is totally walking now,
still staggers ocasionally especially when she's tired, but rushes here and there never watching where she goes, banging into doors and walking & tripping over everything lying in her way. loves to play with the remote controles, drives everybody up the wall when she starts pressing the mobile phone buttons,
we have to keep pressing the buttons back so she doesn't phone anybody by accident,

Yes Jane I am having a good rest to, sitting at the computer, it is actually behaving itself. better had too as it looks like I won't be getting a new one for a while after all.
OH took the car in for a service and ended up having something done to the breaks , needed new tyre, and and it cost him £700 the lot, so we are having to watch the pennies now.

Jane

Jane Report 24 Oct 2010 20:50

Evening Frank
I don't mind a nice cold morning to do the walk.I just don't like it when everything is muddy and Chester needs cleaning off.He is just like a little boy and has to go through all the mucky puddles lol.Life was so much easier when I had the cat.
So young Lewis will be keeping you in order for the next week lol.I'm sure you will have lots of fun,an empty fridge and cupboards !!!.Boys that age are like a bottomless pit.
I am so thirsty so off for a nice long drink of squash.

My ex was a chef, probably still is for all I know. We had pheasant for Christmas dinner one year. It was horrible, we were all spitting out pellets. I have to say though, he was a very good chef.
