Can I join the card group please... there is no card/craft groups that I know of where I am. It will be lovely to have others to compare/learn new tecniques. The only way I tend to learn them is off create and craft on freeview, which isn't on much at the moment.

Well the freezing cold weather seems to be going on.
I was so exhausted today after visiting my own doctor and then having a special eye test that I decided not to visit Johan. Feel rather bad about it but I just lay on the settee and fell asleep. Mind you I didn't go to bed until 4.00 am!
I have a stomach upset which is making me tired I think. I did phone Johan and he said I was right in not visiting him. He had his catheter taken out today so things are improving.
I have another appointment tomorrow but my neighbour has promised to take me in the car to save me a lot of time. I have applied for a better scootmobile and have to see the council doctor so it is important I keep this appointment.
I do hope we don't lose Jill.
So we have another reader who wishes to join us. Are we taking her on Jo?

Sylvia, very sensible not to visit the hospital when you have a stomach upset, you could pass it on to vulnerable patients.

Catherine, hopefully Jo will get in touch with you, or you could send her a PM, she is the co-ordinator of the group.

Sorry did not get on computer yesterday, hubby went for his pre op assessment which took forever, so apologies to Catherine.

Hazel so sorry that things have deteriorated so quickly for you. if you want to talk, email me, around most of the time normally!

Catherine sorry I did not get in touch with you yesterday, but will email you shortly.
Sylvia sorry that you have not been able to visit Johan but as Ann said better not to give him your bug. Lets hope he can still come home on Friday. Good luck with getting the new scooter you will be whizzing round!

Hi all,
Still very cold here. I did venture out to the market today, but am staying in the weekend.
The urologist has now told me that there is probably no hope for me getting better.I have now a tablet - anti bacterial - to take every evening and some cream to spread over "delicate" parts. It seems that I cannot empty my bladder sufficiently every day and the bacteria builds up and multiplies. At least I have no pain at the moment. And who knows maybe I've now been cured of the bacteria with the tablets I have been taking.
Johan has told me we ought to put our names down for a house/dwelling for old people which are connected to services. He wants to return to his birth town of Rotterdam. I feel a bit gutted, but I have no real friends here anyway I have moved so many times in my life that lifelong friendships have not been possible. I do have contacts with lots of ex neighbours etc. but that is not the same as an old schoolfriend is it? Johan doesn't need the contact like I do, but I agree with him that we ought to put our names down as there is a long waiting list.
Have a nice evening everybody. Thanks for the new mailing list Jo.

Yippee I am here !!!
Tried it last night and it seemed fine but didn't push my luck and came straight off again.
Today I have also managed to post so fingers crossed :))
Happy birthday to all I have missed and hope cards and Christmas cards all got through OK plus many thanks for all of my lovely cards.
Sylvia, have a lovely day today.
I am starting craft workshops in about four weeks as soon as I get back from skiing in Canada , looking forward to it and John is hoping that I will at last get a return on all the money spent on craft goodies :))
Been very cold over here but at least its been dry and floors not covered in three sets of muddy paw prints. Poor John each morning has to free up all the outside animals water as frozen solid, ducks have taken up skating.
Hope you are all having a good weekend and a hug to all that need one.

Its great to be back

xx Jill

Hi Ann
At the moment the crafting is for some local English ladies and one gent !! about six of us so far with a few more interested so might spread it over a couple of days.
Would be nice to link the gite in but there is only the two bedrooms so unless there could be a group of friends that dont mind sharing or a couple of friends ,I am not sure how to go about that.
We are in the middle of setting up a web site for the gite so could perhaps think about adding about having a few craft days included :))

If you have a regular craft day for the English ladies you could mention that and they could join in for a set number of Euros to include materials.

Happy Birthday Sylvia, hope you have had a lovely day with lots of cards and presents!!

Lovely to see you back here Jill, you have been missed.
The crafting group sounds lovely and if it takes off even more you could have a new full time job!!

Sylvia, sorry that there appears nothing they can do for your problem, but lets hope the tablets work and you finally need no further treatment.

Well it is not as cold today, but with the wind, think the wind chill takes it down. Bird baths all still frozen.
Hubby out of hospital following his surgery, very sore will not be able to go back work for around 8 weeks!! Could end up bankrupt before then.
Hugs to all

Yes Ann self employed and as he has just had his 60th birthday his policies for sick benefit had automatically lapsed and he was in the process of taking out new ones!! Now a little late I think, perhaps in future he will get his finger out.

Hi all,
Oh thank you all for the wonderful birthday cards you all made for me. Jill, yes I did receive yours on time too.
I only had my two daughters and son in laws and grandchildren to visit. I had lots of telephone calls but didn't want any more visitors. Just want some peace for a while.
Johan dropped a bombshell when he suggested that we moving into sheltered accommodation and he wants to return to his birthplace - Rotterdam. I know, as he says, that I make friends easier than he does, but at our age moving to a complete different area is a bit daunting for me.
I've said I want a large sitting room and bedroom and at least one spare room - for my crafts. I also want accommodation where they have flatlets to let if you have visitors and then they can stay.
Apparently he has been writing away for information on this accommodation for a while now and having it sent to one of my daughters. He knew I didn't want to move again. I also know that if one of us has dementia or severe illness we may get parted and that is heartbreaking. My daughter 's in-laws are living apart now as the man didn't want to leave his house. His wife is now dement and cannot live at home. Very sad.
Must get down to some card making as my stocks are so low.

Sylvia, sound like you had a lovely day. There are loads of birthday wishes over on FTF if you want I will email them to you.

Sounds like Johan has been planning this for quite some time. Will you have any family near by? You are both such a lovely couple you will make new friends anywhere. Not sure if I would fancy packing up my house though!! Afraid to say I am a hoarder......

Sylvia, so glad the card got there in time :) and hope that whatever you decide to do it will be for the best.
I have said to John that in the years ahead we could move into our Gite as its on one level but would find it hard to give up on all my big rooms and all the space in the main house.
Had a boring day ironing so everything is ready before we set off next Tuesday, counting down the days :))

Afternoon. Well visitors have just left so back to peace and quiet. Very foggy and frosty this morning, the fog has cleared but the frost has stayed all day, still the sun shone once the fog cleared. Hope it is the same tomorrow.
Jill hope you have had a lovely crafting afternoon and managed to get some cards made.
