Have a lovely holiday Ann and safe travelling. Are you taking a mask? I always seem to pick up yucky things like sore throats etc from the air con in planes.

Have a super time with your little lady and your son Daff and to everyone else, have a nice Bank Holiday weekend.

Love

Hi Liz, thank you, No not taking a mask, from what I have read they are not a lot of use as they need to remain dry and as soon as you breath they get damp. I am relying on good hygiene and trying not to get too close to people. Yes I usually seem to develop a cold after flying, I am hoping the flu vac offers a small amount of protection. Not a lot we can d as the airlines have not stopped flying and we are not flying to a danger area so wouldn't be able to cancel if we wanted to.

Hope you are enjoying the visit Daff,

Ann xx

Morning all... just crept on while Madam is having her Easter eggs with daddy.... I kept them for her! She has grown so much in 7 months... turning from a toddler into a little girl!! Not a whinge or a whine from her... even though there was so much going on, and after a long journey, for an adult leave alone a little one.

She was also quite happy to tag around after me, lol.... she likes stroking my hair, lol... I have to say it is very very soft, and you expect it to be a bit coarse and stubbly!

I am in the middle of doing Brunch, son is currently supervising it, and then we are off to my sister then the park. Little one is perfectly happy here, though.... she has a bike, a scooter, dolls pram and ball pool...... all new to her, so the novelty hasn't worn off, lol... She also loves drawing and sticking etc, so I have spent some time with that... oh, and we played an adapted version of hopscotch on the paving slabs in the garden, both of us in our jim jams... how decadent!!

Must go.... have a lovely day, everyone, and I hope the weather is as kind to you as it is to us, here.

Love and hugs

IF it is fine in the morning and IF I get a good nights sleep I will be taking my OH to climb Rangitoto. It is a volcanic Island in the Hauraki Gulf, just off Auckland. In my case it will be more of a crawl up. We have been up it before but OH wants to climb it again and I want to take photos with my lovely digital camera.
I will change my board name back to HuiaCrow I think.

Evening all... and welcome back, Jean, hope you had a lovely holiday.

Not got enough energy to type much, I am exhausted... on my way to bed, now... too exhausted even to bother with a glass of red, lol... madam is now fast asleep... half a million kids, not one of them from our Close, playing football (noisily) outside, so she has been a bit restless and took a while to settle down.

Well, I'll love you all and leave you.... I'll pop back in tomorrow when I have had a full night's sleep!

Love and ((((((hugs))))))

MrDaff Report 3 May 2009 11:57

Next door but one had a party.... they have about 5 or 6 a year, but last night's was the worst for noise... normally they all go into the house between 12 and 1 am, except those who come outside for a smoke... but they have bought a couple of those fire pit things. The last (and noisiest!!) 4 went in at 4.50 am. They didn't keep their voices down, were singing karaoke at the top of them, in fact. I slept from about 5 through to 9... so I am still bally exhausted, plus the fact that little'un has been unwell in the night, too (she is now fast asleep, bless her) and has a dreadful cough with the snotty nose to go with it, lol... so all those months of steering clear and I am likely to get a cold from her, lolol I have phoned the ward... they just said to keep an eye, watch my temp, and blah blah! I know the routine well, by now! Fortunately I had some Calpol in.... I had forgotten about it until the wee small hours, but I always keep all the baby things in, just in case... so the Calpol, Karvol capsules on her pillow and propping up her mattress with pillows underneath have done the trick.... Daddy is sound asleep, too!

I don't think we shall be going too far today... we have decided to do Barry Island on Tuesday, after the Bank holiday is over. I might take her to see my mum....

we had a bit of bad news about mum on Thursday... as some of you may know, she has been very scatty and forgetful... GP said all was ok, but he was the one who misdiagnosed her for 2 years (first gulf war era) and ended up nearly killing her as a result... mum was in a coma for 9 weeks. So I have been pushing her gently for a couple of years.... I've even phoned the surgery myself and got nowhere. When I was diagnosed, I told my one sister that this was really worrying me... so they picked up the ball and ran with it... even though they didn't think there was anything wrong with her, but to put my mind at rest while I was so ill. Both are nurses, and knew which buttons to press, lol..... so they got a referral to the memory clinic sorted for her.

Anyway... we managed to persuade her to go to the memory clinic, and after 3 hours of extensive tests and questioning, the neurologist has agreed that she has significant memory loss, and certainly has some form of dementia. She has now got to have a ct scan to see which she has. She wants me to go with her, when she has that... I have had a few, lol in fact only my toes haven't been scanned, lolol!! She just wants me there to remind her that it is straight forward and easy... hardest bit is keeping still, lol

My mum will be fine... and she has five daughters, so we'll evolve some system of keeping an eye on her and giving them both the support they need... and it gives me an added impetus to get the photos of when she was little sorted!!

Well... another whinge, lol.....I am getting good at this!!

A beautiful day here... when madam wakes, I think we might go to Tredegar Park with her if she is up to it... lots of space to run around, and close enough to home to bundle her into the car if she is feeling rough, and back for another sleep.

Love to everyone

Am so sorry to hear about you being kept awake by the blasted neighbours! Sleep deprivation is awful, I am a very cranky person when I don't get my quota.. And poor little un being poorly! Thank God for Calpol, I had a poorly F last time they were here and Calpol became my pal! Seriously though, Daff, can you wear a mask while you are around her or would it scare the bejasus out of her? I am praying you do not get an infection. *frets....

Sad news about your Mum, too, Daffy, but as you say she has five daughters and what comfort that will be to her ...try and get some rest today, you can always go wild tomorrow:-)

MrDaff Report 3 May 2009 12:55

Lol BC.... she is a tough little cookie... don't think she'd be frightened by anything!! I think the damage, if any, has already been done... I mean, who can resist kissing and snuggling a wriggly giggly worm of an almost three year old?? She was fine most of yesterday, so we didn't suspect a thing!!

She goes to nursery 2 days a week... Monday and Thursday, so has probably been in contact with someone on Monday last... timescale is about right. So whatever she has I am likely to get, anyway!

The neighbours had invited us to the party, lol..... I didn't really want to go, a bit wary of all those people in one enclosed place, pmsl.... but took the birthday boy a prezzie and cards (70th birthday and also retiring at last)

Well.... let's go and do sommat constructive, lol.... and maybe rattle some pans and stuff so that the sleeping beauties wake up, lolol They are still out for the count! I do hope son didn't take the Calpol as well, lololol ;¬))

Hi Daff
Great to read you're having a ball with your little 'wriggly worm' lol they certainly bring lots of joy into the house and are irresistible aren't they? even though you wouldn't want snotties lol
Hope you all had fun in the park, weather has been smashing for the weekend, and long may it continue :O)

So sorry to hear about your Mam, best wishes and love to her, sure you're all a comfort to her.

Keep taking good care of yourself Daff and with the neighbours' party over, you should get some much needed sleep tonight.

Hi Daffers - well you've had a weekend of it, haven't you?

Sorry to hear about Mum - but at least you know there is something amiss for definite, and sounds to me like you and your sisters will sort out a rota-type thingy, so that none of you gets overwhelmed (sp??).

Little Missy sounds good fun - when you have had enough of her, send her up here! I need the sound of tiny feet badly! My son has no off-spring other than a Cocker spaniel and I've been watching over the beast for the weekend whilst son and OH make a chicken coop (is that right spelling - or will the fowl get a Divi??) lol My garden is destroyed! destroyed I tell you!!! the little bugger!!

sorry neighbours were a bit noisy - when things get settled down a bit, I'll send you my Tina Turner kareoke tape so you can reciprocate - lol - Simply The Best at 2.00 am is a winner, every time!

Hope little one is OK today and the snot has stopped running, and her cardigan sleeve is not too stiff!!!

Bi for now - take care
