Hi Jude,

I picked up a free garden shredder for o.h. last week, and have had several things off there, earlier this evening I got two brand new carousel thingies that go inside kitchen units, the chap had not got round to fitting them. I have some mesh ones at my house that I bought in 1979 and I took them out of my old kitchen when I moved in 1987 and had them installed in the new kitchen at my house. These ones are solid plastic so things can't fall through the gaps so they are going inside the top cupboards of my wardrobes so I can put lots of small items in there and they will be easily accessible, as long as I use the small stepstool that I keep just inside one wardrobe for reaching the top shelves. I might try putting them inside the wardrobes above the hanging rail so I can put make up and belts etc in

It's amazing the things people give away but it often irks me that people ask for things without even a please

Have fun with the footie table

We have'nt put it together yet, it needs abit of attenion underneath and then a good clean and its legs put back on.
If someone wants something to do, see if you can find the old company that made it:

Its called.....Brighouse Table Football co. The phone number is Brighouse Yorkshire 78511(5 lines) not in use now though.

Its all printed on the pitch and it says "Especially made for".
l've had a quick look, no luck:o(

have a look on here Jude, all about your table ?

Lizx

My son has one actually, we got it off friends when he was young so it's still in my house in the spare room, maybe I could get it for him to have at his flat, I bet he has forgotten it's there.

Have fun when you get yours fixed up

Hey Liz, bet you could sell the footie table on eBay or Gumtree for some extra cash!
I have been 'clearing' all day, still at it - thrown out probably half my clothes, which had made the cupboard so full I couldn't find anything. Another 4 big bags for Freecycle. They may all become rags with the age of some of them!! LOL.
I LOVE Freecycle, got an electric treadmill for my daughter last week, has to be worth a few hundred, a generous gift from a stranger. Mind you I also give away many items each year. One day I'll be organised.

I will get at the footie table and give it to G., it will be one less thing in the house and he can keep it or sell it, it is his after all.
I am trying to keep off gumtree and freecycle for the mo as I kept seeing things I wanted, and have two outlets for jumble and books, the domestic violence group are opening a charity shop but before that they are doing a boot sale stall so want things to sell and also the hedgehog rescue people need things to sell at a jumble sale so must go through some of my clothes and distribute to whereever they will be best used

Keep up the good work Mary, I am working on newspapers but it's slow going.

Enjoy the table Jude, is it one that has to have coins put in?

Thanks Liz:o))

l found another company, have their phone number and they have a forum. Checked the link you gave me, very interesting:o)

l can quite understand you trying not to look at Freecyle etc, so tempting:o) but great all the same.

l'm having a sort out now, l have an old trolley, it was my m i l and we have no room for it now, Vic's quite happy it goes, also some bathroom tiles, approx 120 that l was given for my mosaicing, have so many others, these might be useful to someone!

MaxiMary....good on yeh:o))

Hi all,
Liz searched for a recliner chair for me on that site when my own broke down...
She found one just up the road from me... but my son bought me one for Mother's Day.... what Liz now calls ... 'my blue throne'...
I have never been on the site but I think it is an amazing idea, and we really should swap things which are still good.
Beats throwing a good item away, often unused.
Enjoy your footie games with the family Jude.

I use freecycle a lot got local one and coventry one as we are so near there, get lot for school PTA on there as well and give a lot away as well rather than throw it away.

Got a lovely recliner from it hubby calls it his magic chair as he is soon asleep in it and also got a high backed orthapedic chair off it whcih is good as well.

Have just freecycled to another home my much treasured knitting machine with all accessories, a ribber and lace carriage, because I cant sit comfortably at it anymore. Have now got to sort out some plants and an electric floor sweeper which is only suitable for solid floors and cord type carpet. Its efficient on those, but not on my rugs.
Have passed on a load of stuff, but never yet taken anything for ourselves. Its a glorified jumble sale costing nothing!

I find it makes me feel good to give an item to someone who will appreciate it. besides, I don't have to pay someone to take it away, they pick up. I have made some good friends through Freecycle as well.

What is the website for Freecycle please ..?
Ihope there is one near to me.

Tho I always donate to Barnados, I am taking a DVD tomorrow.

I was gutted when I had to take my dining chairs to the tip, cos they'd been recovered and didn't have a fir safety label on them !

Thanks Dizzie Lizzie, will try that link.

Barnados took the DVD with thanks this morning, they didn't used to take electrical goods, but have obviously changed their policy.

I'm also gutted that we skipped 3 teles in good condition, which they would have taken, all was needed was a digi box for them to be of use to someone.
My Aunt who is 90 didn't want to spend a lot on a new tele when everything went digital, so her g.dau bought her a digi box and fitted it all up for her:))
Working perfect !

Hi Jude~~

If you or your OH are a taxpayer, even son or dau, Barnados can get the tax relief on your donations if you register with them
Having dealt with Barnados whilst working myself with the Social Security I know they do good work for unfortunate youngsters.
I believe it applies to other charities.

But I'll still check out the Freecycle site:).☺☺

Hello Sandie:o)

Thanks for that:o) l work for Oxfam, so anything l don't put on freecycle l take to Oxfam.

The sort of thing people can get rid of on freecycle are....top soil, bricks, any other d.i.y things, pond plants, plants, seeds etc some allow live stock . My old bath will go on if its worth it, so there are loads of things that a charity shop can't take....well worth the look:o)

Wow ..

I never thought of that Jude, we are about to change our bathroom completely. Hubby's idea, bath, toilet and handbasin are in excellent condition, ..he wants to change to a shower unit rather than a bath, with overhead shower, against my better judgement, he's bought everything except the shower unit and has almost re tilled the whole bathroom.
If someone can make use of it , well and good rather than it go to the tip.
It isn't something you would put up for sale.. tho it is in an excellent condition.

Sandie.
