Seen funeral directors today. The funeral is Monday 18th October.
Mum is doing okay, we all are. Mum took us out for lunch today and Steve said he noticed she looked more relaxed. I'm having a few tears now and again but I'm ok xxx

Of course you will get upset at times Carole, you all went through so much and it will keep coming to mind even when you are busy with other things, but let the tears come, no sense bottling them up or trying to put on a brave face, tears are better out than in. I can understand your Mum being less stressed now - I suppose for her especially it's been hard as she was the one looking after your Dad all the time, I think? and she must have wondered every day what would happen.

Just treat yourself kindly, and take all the support you can get from your family

I took Mum to see her sister today. Then brought her back to my house for tea. I got a hair dresser in and Mum had her hair cut. It really looks nice. She couldn't stop going back to a mirror! When I took her home there was a big box out side the door. It was flowers from a cousin in Nebraska USA, who I found through GR about five years ago. So I think Mum had a nice day today!

Glad you liked the flowers Carole, now just take time for yourself for a bit and relax, you have had so much on lately it's time for to to slow down now.

A month has passed since my dear Dad passed away. No words can say how I feel

But,Carole,he,no doubt,feels peaceful,serene,rested and whole again. Take strength from that, love.

Hi Carole, as Sharron said, he is at peace now and not suffering anymore.

It get's easier as time goes on, but there are still times when we miss them more than others.

Carole, sadly it will take a long time to even come to terms with your loss, but you will find there will be days where you laugh and behave as always, and suddenly you think of your Dad and feel guilty that you didn't have him in your mind for a while. It's natural and is the way that grieving gently moves on, and it is the way your mind helps you cope without making yourself ill.

You know your Dad's quality of life hadn't been great for some years and that must make it easier because he is no longer suffering loss of dignity, and all those things that took away the life he once had and left him reliant on others. He is peaceful now without pain and is whole again, one day you will be together when it is the right time.
