This facility is not working for some members. It has already been mentioned on another thread but is getting a bit buried on that one. The members who seem most affected have a lot of posts.

Clicking on My Threads gives an error message

ErrorSorry. An error has occurredThe page you were trying to load has experienced an error. This error has been logged and will be investigated.

If you hit the back button on your browser, it will return you to the page you were on, and you may like to try the action again. If you repeatedly experience the same error, please contact Support via the Contact Us menu under Help.

If you were following a link from your favourites, an email or from another site, the link may have changed. We recommend returning to the home page of the Genes Reunited site, and following the existing menu options to navigate to the same content.

To return to the home page, click on the Genes Reunited logo.

Can this be looked at please as it is a useful facility.

I'm experiencing the same problem with "My threads". It has been very slow to load for quite some time now but lately when I click on it I get the dreaded error message. I go back and click on it again and usually have success the second time.

Edit: Just tried it again, it took 3 attempts to access it.

I've had this problem and reported it to Genes in the last couple of days. I was told to try pressing "control and F5" simultaneously or try logging out of the site and signing back in.

I thought that control and F5 had sorted the problem but the next day it was the same. Today the only way to get "my threads" is to log out completely and then sign in again (something which I usually never do). I'll have to get in touch with support again because they asked me to get back to them if I still had problems.

- yes. Error appears; click on my threads again and sometimes it works okay.

I have the problem frequently

at the very least, My Threads is very slow to load

But it goes to the Error message approximately half the time.

Although I have got a little wise recently

............. if it has not opened in 30 seconds, I either stop it and try again

............ OR i click immediately on another Board. That opens within seconds. I do what I want to do on that Board, go back to the Community screen, and try My Threads again.

That sometimes (but not always) works

It's been going on for many weeks.

I wonder if it would help if there was some way to remove a thread from My Thread without having to go back to the original thread and delete the comment?

There are many threads where I have made a comment, but have not returned, and do not intend to return ............ these threads are all still in existence.

Going back to the thread and removing my comment is a possibility ........ but may well not enhance the thread for anyone else who may find it in future. It just makes the thread disjointed.

Starting to annoy now

Have messages in my inbox and which refer to threads several days old and it is taking a long time to check through the boards to see what the thread is about and what I had posted.

Completely unable to do so.

This needs fixing.

It has gone on for far too long!

Kense Report 5 Feb 2012 14:36

I wonder if the My Threads problem is related to GR allowing a choice of tree types as it is about the time that they relented on the use of the Old Tree that the My Threads problem started.

The reasoning being that the resources required for the extra tree may be at the expense of resources available for My Threads. Just a theory.

SylviaInCanada Report 5 Feb 2012 20:09

Ken

The first time that I reported getting the Error Message when trying to open My Threads (as against when trying to open threads within a board, or move around inside a thread) seems to be on 12 Jan 2012 ................ on GB's other thread This site is a joke, .... http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.page/board/suggestions/thread/1283730

I have not kept a record of when GR relented on the us of the old-style tree .............. have you?

Kense Report 5 Feb 2012 20:28

From the thread "It's Back" it seems to be 20th Jan. So that disproves the theory.

MargaretM Report 6 Feb 2012 11:44

This is the message I just received from the Support Team. I got the impression that I am the only one who has this problem and they haven't heard about it before. Guess they don't read their Suggestions Board.

"Dear Margaret

Thank you for your email,

I am sorry to hear that you are having a problem, accessing your threads.

I have logged into your registration to test this and can confirm that your
threads are opening correctly, when clicking on 'My Threads'.

Please can you sign out of the site then open a new browser window and sign
back in again, this should refresh the page for you.

If you still have problems viewing your threads then we would also suggest
you try pressing control and F5 simultaneously. This will clear any cached
pages your PC has stored.

Please try again and if you still experience a problem, please let us know
exactly what you are clicking on, any error message that you received and
also, which operating system and browser you are using to access the site in
order that I may investigate this further for you.

Kind Regards,

Alex Brett

"This error has been logged and will be investigated"

So this is not happening then if your response is anything to go by.

Also you got the standard request for info on your operating system and browser.
