I have an awful cold :-( :-(

J and MJ had a funny cough only "cold" the whole time we were with them ......... I held out against that, and then started with this on Monday, on the train.

Interestingly, it is too long after leaving J and M's, but too short to have caught it on the train ...... that's if you believe the 3 day rule

BUT I have a very dry cough and a runny nose ............. and couldn't sleep last night

I'm miserable :-( :-( :-( :-D

We had great fun ...... especially on the trains, and especially on the last train of the whole trip.

The food was as good as it always is, and there was great conversation with people on all legs of the journey.

The home stay had its highlights, and also some major low points.

Christmas Day was good, as it always is when there is a child there, and J cooked a turkey to perfection.

It began to break apart after dinner when M asked OH to strip the carcass ........... OH began to cut off thin slices of meat to get down to the bones, as he has done for at least 45 years (and possibly as long as 60 years). That was wrong! ............... M pulls the meat off in strips, using his hands, and that is the "only" way to do it.

He instructed OH what to do, and then pushed him out of the way and took over doing the job ............ leaving the washing up waiting to be done.

Oh Hum!

Boxing Day was more than a little straught!

I have no idea what is going to happen next, whether we will even go there to stay in future. :-(

Had spotty GD today to give her Mum a break.

All went well UNTIL it was time to go home. My friend had left a gift for the new baby so trying to bribe GD I said lets go home and give F her gift.

At this point she had had her coat and wellies on and off like a yo yo and was crying her eyes out.

The pressie had disappeared after much searching we had to go wihtout it :-(

In the car I said "silly Gran has lost F's present" and the little voice in the back of the car says "under the table Gran"

When we got home it was under the coffee table

Somehow I get the impression she didn't want to go home ;-)

sis-i-l started her chemo treatment on Wednesday

it's long, but hard to know how hard it will be on here.

For 6 months, she will be having chemo at the hospital on Wednesday morning for about 4 hours, then will be sent home with a "bottle" attached to her to infuse for another 48 hours. That will be removed on Friday. She will then have a blood test on the next Monday .............. and another chemo session on the Wednesday if all is OK.

We're keeping in close contact with her and her daughters.

She is extremely positive ..................... colon and intestinal cancers do have one of the highest rates of success when treated.
