Mornin all,

The world has gone white again, the snow is about 4" deep round here and it has just started to snow again.

The road surface outside however is clear of the stuff. I must compliment my local council who now send the gritting lorries out whenever there is even a hint that the temperature is likely to go down to zero. Yesterday evening for example a gritter came past on at least 3 occasions. That was not the case some years ago when we rarely saw one in the area where I live, maybe a local councillor now lives in the road. ;-)

Mornin all~~~~

Jonesey, our roads are not cleared by the council but contractors, I think they are a French company called 'Amey' and although I am against contracting out, they have done a good job over this last few weeks

Sister looks the picture of health, all things considered. We had a real old chuckle yesterday, talking about the old days etc.....

She's just finished refurbishing her flat, it looks beautiful, New England style furnishings, really relaxing feel to it

She didnt go to church yesterday, the weather wasnt good so she stayed home, warm and snug. Me and No1 son left just at the right time, the snow was quite heavy on the way home and we have about 3 inches of it now :-(

Phone hasnt stopped ringing this morning...........students wanting their results!

More tea is needed me thinks.............

On the 1911 Irish Census my my GGF & GGM appear.
Francis & Rosanna Irvine
He is shown as a labourer aged 72....comendable

At the bottom, because he could not write his wife signed for him to which he added his mark,a diagonal cross.

I find that quite humbling in a generation where many people half his age can read and write, but have no intention of working.

Of course 1911 was long before all sorts of benefits were conceived.
