Linds

They sell it in all the supermarkets, it's normally with the Balsamic vinegar, comes in a plastic bottle

I'm all alone, with a victoria sponge and carrot cake. My craving for a cake this week has been very strange as I normally prefer savory

There was another Samuel Galway Irvine
He was a boy died in childhood 1907
Lived with my GF Samuel G Irvine and Sarah McLarnon
Not registered as her child,so the boy child is a mystery,as yet.

Gins, I sometimes get the error message when opening this thread - usually because it seems to time itself out because there are so many pages. I have even ended up clicking on lower page numbers to give it a boost..... :-D

Jonesey Report 3 Mar 2013 10:26

David,

I think it likely that the birth and death registrations below are those for your mystery boy. You will note that his second forename on the birth registration is GALLOWAY not GALWAY. That would indicate a connection to your grandfather as his mother's maiden name was GALLOWAY. Might I suggest that if you wish to be certain about his parentage then you consider purchasing a copy of the birth certificate.

Name: Samuel Galloway Irvine
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1907
Registration district: Belfast
Birth Country: Ireland
Volume: 1
Page: 188
FHL Film Number: 101071

Name: Samuel Galway Irvine
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1907
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1913
Death Age: 6
Registration district: Belfast
Death Country: Ireland
Volume: 1
Page: 178
FHL Film Number: 0101605

This looks to be him in 1911 living with your grandparents in Osborne St, Duncairn, Co Antrim :

Surname Forename Age Sex Relation to head Religion
Irvine Samuel 36 Male Head of Family Methodist
Irvine Sarah Margaret 26 Female Wife Church of Ireland
Irvine Samuel G 3 Male Son Methodist

If it is the correct people then Samuel Snr and Sarah state that they have been married for under 1 year and that their union has not produced any children. Perhaps your grandfather had been married before he married Sarah McLarnon in 1910:

Name: Sarah Margaret McLarnon
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1910
Registration district: Belfast
Volume: 1
Page Number: 364
FHL Film Number: 101262
Records on Page:
Name
Hugh McBurney
Ellen McEnroe
William Francis Brady
Edith Morrison
Sarah Margaret McLarnon
Bridget McMahon
James McCann
>>>Samuel Irvine

One way to investigate that would be to obtain a copy of that marriage certificate to see what Samuel Irvine listed as his status at the time of the marriage, Widower or Bachelor.

Went to a wedding fair this afternoon. No wedding in the offing but you-know-where is holding a wedding fair later in the year and I wanted to get some ideas! Came away armed with loads of brochures etc.......and felt rather relieved that I wasn't there as potential mother of the bride. It looked extremely expensive :-0
