Post or PM details of who it is you are hoping to find and I will take a look for you.

Dea Report 22 Mar 2013 16:44

It's this one Jonesey - It is for a thread I was trying to help on ..........

UK Incoming Passenger Lists, 1878-1960 about James Bowman
Name: James Bowman
Birth Date: abt 1882
Age: 32
Port of Departure: New York, New York, United States
Arrival Date: 12 Dec 1914
Port of Arrival: Liverpool, England
Ship Name: Lusitania
Search Ship Database: View the 'Lusitania' in the 'Passenger Ships and Images' database
Shipping Line: Cunard Steamship Company Ltd
Official Number: 124082

It is the details from the New York end I am interested in.

Many thanks,

Dea Xxx

Jonesey Report 22 Mar 2013 17:05

Sorry Dea but it looks like I misunderstood your request as WW Ancestry does not I believe have a database covering details of departures from New York. Even if it did it is unlikely to have any more information than that provided on the UK Incoming Passenger list I.E. Passenger name, Their declared age or date of birth, Ship name, Destination ect.

I don't know if it helps any but here are a few more details about the man that show up on the incoming passenger record.

He was an engineer by trade.

He was making for 52 Wolfe Lane, Cork, Ireland.

His last country of residence was the USA

His intended country of residence was Ireland

What was his country of birth, was it Ireland where he was making for on his return to the UK?

Dea,

That looks a messy thread and to me it looks as if the tree he appears in is planted in sand rather than firm ground.

If anything it would appear to me as the James Bowman you have identified with is the most likely candidate based upon occupation as much as anything. The fact that he was making for Cork gives me the feeling that he was Irish in origin.

The area that the one who married 3 times seemed to be based in was Birkenhead which of course is known to have a few Irish people living there. Did they not used to describe Liverpool as the mainland capital of Ireland?

Dea

Dea Report 22 Mar 2013 18:22

I quite agree Jonesey, in every respect !!

Thanks,

Dea Xxx :-D

The snow is BAD, it wasn't too bad earlier, I went out to get milk and fags, the Audi was a dream to drive, compared to it's predecessor

Just spoke to sis on the phone, good news, her scan results show it hasnt spread any further and she is having chemo on Monday....she may live longer than first thought

What an absolutely horrible, horrible day!!!

From where I sit I can see the snow swirling wildly in the wind. The traffic is crawling past in both directions. The wind is bitterly cold.

I am so thankful to be in the warm with my cosy bedsocks and dressing gown on.

We managed to go out at lunchtime and there was hardly any snow a couple of miles away from us.... :-S

Brother and sister-in-law arrived but a fairly short visit as they are on their way to Cumbria - I thought they were going home........ :-S

Gins, really pleased about your sister <3 <3 <3

Yes Jonesey, Liverpool is the capital of Ireland in England. :-D :-D :-D

Just got time to come on here for a catch up.

First and most importantly Gins that is really good news about your sis <3 <3 <3

Had a busy day went out to lunch with some of my Mums cousins that I keep in touch with.
I was nearly on the BBC news the place was crowded with Scottish/Welsh fans in Glasgow for tonights match and a film crew came in to interview them.
We were at a table beside the fans they interviewed but they moved them to the middle of the pub so I'm afraid I didn't get on camera thank goodness ;-)

I gave the cousins some old pictures that I had copied for them 2 of them didn't have any pics of their maternal gran and I have a few so they were pleased.

I also copied documents I had on their Grandad that was sent to Canada by the orphanage including copies of an extract about his voyage from here to Canada.

When I got home I babysat the GD's cos DIL was going out so was on duty till my son got home.

Just to finish the night off got a call about an hour ago DIL was stuck in the snow and couldn't get a hold of my son . Her Dad went to get her and I got a hold of my son.

I am now going to bed as my other son has just made it home from the studio.

Blasted snow :-(

Cynthia Report 23 Mar 2013 07:48

Good morning all...... :-D

David! Whatever have you been doing? I realised you had been missing but thought you were busy elsewhere. Do hope everything is going okay for you. Keep smiling indeed.....get better soon. :-)

Linds, sounds like an exciting night.......not. The snow is a menace I agree. Glad everyone got sorted out.

I don't think I will be able to get the car out, so that means that daughter will not be a happy bunny. :-( I think she forgets that I am not a 30 year old anymore and that digging snow is not that easy any more. The impossible I can do. Miracles take a little longer.... :-D

So to breakfast:

Plenty of porridge to go round.

Full English on it's way.

Continental - the croissants are gently warming

Cereals of all kinds.......do you remember the excitement of getting a 'free toy' in a box of cereal. Probably wouldn't be allowed now with all the red tape around ;-)

Tea and coffee - naturally.....where would we be without those ?

Going for a browse......it's about as far as I WILL be going today I think.....xx
