Find Ancestors

I'm just making arrangements for us to go up to OH's sister in a couple of weeks time ................. it's our anniversary on the 12th, and then OH will turn 75 a week later.

I've found it difficult to decide what to do for his birthday, but then had the bright idea 2 days ago that he might enjoy going up to see his sis, and the niece and her husband who live in the same town (the niece who had her appendix out a few weeks ago). He jumped at the idea. Sis-i-l is going to check out a place for us to go for dinner

I have to book things this weekend ................ we'll fly up there, stay a week, then take the train home.

The train is a bit "round the hills" .................. it's a 2 day trip from sis' town to Jasper, staying overnight in a hotel. We then have to stay overnight in Jasper, before getting on to The Canadian for the overnight trip to Vancouver


Sis-i-l told me tonight that she starts back to work on Sunday, half time at first. It's a month since she had the last chemo treatment.

We've been plotting our visits to various places this morning, when we go to Brussels

We are off to Bruges, trip around the town on a horse drawn carriage, up the clock tower, off to see a WW1 battle field. Canal cruise, museums, beer trip, chocolate trip and a night time lights thingy

Off to Wales later today to visit mom (inlaw Dea!)

Sylvia I am sure your OH will enjoy the trip. Glad to hear his sister has progressed so well. I too am planning to treat my OH to a trip for his recent 60th.

I decided to treat him and our 3 sons to a 2 night trip. Only problem is organising it to suit all of them so probably not until September or October BUT will have to avoid my birthday ;-)

Cynthia I got all my washing dried yesterday when it was sunny and windy :-)

I spent most of the day going downtown to do a wee bit of shopping (cards for OH), followed by booking the train trip, and sorting out the 2 hotels we need.

That all took me so long, that I missed the time for phoning about the flight up ............. I'm trading in points for that, and that has to be done by phone with the points redeeming service.

They are not open on Sundays ............. but then I discovered that they are not open on Monday either because it's a Stat Holiday in several provinces.

I just hope I can still get seats on the flight we want!

I also have to book tickets, redeeming more points, for bringing daughter and grandson out here for a week beginning Sept 27.


Remind me in future NOT to even think about staying in Jasper in the Rockies at the height of the summer tourism season. Hotels are horrendously expensive, even for places that sound pretty grotty from the reviews.

The trip is going to be OH's birthday present, and quite probably also our joint anniversary present as a result!!!


Cyn ................... sis-i-l is really thrilled that we are going up, and OH was also thrilled when I suggested it.

Sunny here so far !

son is going to finish flooring the loft. I am going to finish the ironing then am "doing" my hair ;-)

Then (hopefully) the plan is to sort through some of the photos that were in the garage. Hopefully not too many of them have been damaged with damp :-(

I stayed there once a few years ago - I seem to remember that I was in a log cabin on the edge of a lake where you could go out on a boat and do some fishing !!

We booked some sort of tour but there was only us on it + the driver and his wife sitting at the back of the coach knitting !! ;-)

The driver really enjoyed himself on the lake !!

Quite a nice holiday really !!
