I had another funny one a little earlier

I posted on one thread, and then about 10 minutes went to another thread, went to the last posting, and posted a very similar message.

It appeared on the first thread .................. 2 postings 10 minutes apart

I swear I was on thread number 2 when I did the message and clicked submit

it's doing my head in!

I think I have had more threads and postings removed in the last 3 days than I have before, except for one time a couples of years ago when Janey and I were involved in something over on Chat or General .......... and got accused of the Canadians being in cahoots!

Every thread I have put on Help Clinic .... mainly asking for clarification ... has been removed

"FannyByGaslight Request Review Ten Hours Ago
Afternoon all.

Sorry for getting you in trouble with SRS Sylvia,it was my doing I know as I said thanks for nodding her thread our way....My most umble apoligys mlady.

So SRS dont likey being talked of behind her face Hmmmm?

SRS,you needs to worry when you arent, then you will know it is being done by PM where no one can see it is what I says about GR peeps talking of me..!

Guess that will put me in the not nice camp now ,but hey,I dont mind.

sob,sob,sniff.....well ok ,not too much...sob"

I'm a bit puzzled by this to be honest.

FBG I found the post through reading through this thread, nothing that you had said so there is no need to apologise to Sylvia unless you really want too ;) lol

I wouldn't know about people talking behind your back FBG, I try to avoid doing this myself (in a nasty way anyway). I don't have any issues with anyone on here. I quite like most people even though I don't always agree with what everyone says. I just say things as I see it as I suppose most people on here do. It doesn't mean that I fall out with them and feel the need to talk behind their backs or by pm. It's hard enough just keeping up with the genealogy emails and general chatter :)

The thing is if people are talking about me or what I said on the w.w.w. I'd at least like the opportunity to respond or check that it's accurate.

I've really got no issues with Sylvia, she seems a nice enough lady as do most people on here. As do you in fact. I've always seen you responding to people's queries on the boards so if people are talking about you in pms, I would assume it would be nice.

jax, re the Horseman etc thread -- the poster in question kinda fits the definition of that P word I'm afraid. One that I have done a lot for by PM, and then she and her half-sister posted the same query simultaneously shortly after, if you might recall. Hope the other poster comes back.

jax Report 22 Nov 2010 02:21

Oh well we have been having pm's today actually. She does'nt want to post on the thread until he comes back. I think he may have a tree on ancestry although there is a date of birth no mention of who the father is.
It will be nice to know if he does know something or just giving details off that tree whether its his or not

jax Report 22 Nov 2010 03:42

Although I saw this tree plus another one which took me right off the scent, it was'nt until after I had found the info.
It does annoy me that people will insist that this is the mmn because it says so on the childs birth cert!!!
I had this with my own family when a grandaughter of my gt uncle had'nt even bothered to try and find her own grandfathers birth.
I found it for her being born a year before they married...so poss not even fathered by the same father as the others. She has added the info I gave her but I bet she has'nt bought the cert. I suppose if she does she will have wasted her time tracing back our line of the family?

edit - Just found some rubbish on ancestry where a few Americans have taken a part of my family and added some story about this wonderful man something to do with inventing sarsparella and giving his obit dated 1885 when he died in 1874 as a brickmaker as far as I was aware. Would have been nice for someone in my family to have been famous....but unfortunatly not lol

it's going to be a chilly night, and cold tomorrow

it's already around -3C at 11 pm, with a wind chill making it feel like about -7 or 8C

Tomorrow, the plumbers come to install the sink, and hook up the dishwasher

and I have to go and get my new glasses ........... they phoned on Friday to say they were ready, but they don't open on Saturdyas or Sundays!

so you'd better watch out tomorrow 'cos I'll be able to see what you're all doing!

wonder what this site will be like tomorrow??

Not going to bed today trying to stay up so I can sleep at a normal time.

Yes I put a comment on this name collectors tree, I found another one with the samesurname born scotland married two different people?? lived in missori or however you spell it on a census in 1900 in US and also kent England in 1901 and died in scotland in 1901 where did they get this from?? but he/she from california has over 3000 names in thier tree. I do think these Americans think England is so small everywhere is within walking distance to each other

I had to laugh earlier this evening

my son-in-law has a pretty unusual name, originally I beleive from southern England, to Newfoundland in the 1600 or 1700s, and then to mainland Canada in the 1930s. Plus some in the US

Two of his uncles did the tree back in the 90s ........ I haven't seen it, but I've been told about it.

Probably, all people with this surname, and certain variations, are related

Anyway, I found a man with the surname on a tree on ancestry, at first glance seemd some pretty good research done

Town correct, picture of his gravestone etc.

Then I looked a bit deeper

uh oh

he born in Burgoe, Newfoundland, lived and died in Burgo, children born in Burgo

Looked at the wife ...... born in Devon, married a man in Devon with the same surname but different forename, every census showed her in Devon, all children born in Devon

all at the same time as the children born in Burgoe

How the h*ll can people not see these glaring mistakes?!
