Thanks for breakfast Sylvia and lunch looks very inviting too!

I found the olive oil, garlic and 'squashy' tomatoes you left me for my toast so I won't be needing that extra milk to make porridge.

I am going to see what chaos has ensued during the night.

See you all later.

Hello, my numpty question of the day!

How do you tell the difference between extracted and submitted records on FamilySearch?

Dea

Dea Report 21 Nov 2010 14:20

MC - IT TELLS YOU !!!!!!!!!

Dea x

I am sure you must mean something different than I am reading ??

What is it you are trying to sort?

Dea x

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 21 Nov 2010 14:29

LK
There is no point in getting into them as he wont be able to get into them to read your reply.
I think it was Jax who worked out what it is that makes it happen.

The Header title is too long for this site to cope with since the "changes for the better...snort !)

If you edit out the Powis/Harris/ from it before you paste you can get in.

I have sent John a PM telling him this ,but wether I have explained well enough for him to understand what I am saying I dont know..!

Dea

Dea Report 21 Nov 2010 14:29

Do you perhaps mean on he 'Pilot search' MC ??

In which case, they, I believe, are all 'extracted' as they have source references??

Afternoon All

Am back from my visit this morning - it is very quiet on here - what's everyone doing

See Traceys been and gone - unless she is lost -

I have a confession to make - I love the little envelope icons - hope when they fix everything else - they dont break them

Family search tell that they are closing pilot search down round about the end of the year - had several extremely nice emails from them - follow up emails asking if I wad happy with the responses etc

Real customer service - without being a customer - just a user

There is a lesson to be learnt there !!!

Dea

Dea Report 21 Nov 2010 14:59

Hi Renes,

I am just about to listen to the 'afternoon play' on Radio 4.

Glad you have had a nice day!

Dea

Dea Report 21 Nov 2010 15:03

Do you get Radio 4 there Renes?

OR - is it Radio Nacional de Espana??

I used to listen to that when I was teaching myself Spanish.

Very useful - especially the News.

The people on there spoke at about 1000 miles per minute - one would give a couple of lines until their breath gave out and then the next one would take over, and so it went on. - No one on this earth speaks as quickly as that !!

Very useful for me though as the Spanish speak VERY quicky and so if you could understand 'the News', you could keep up with the 'real' Spanish people !!

Hi Dea (and all!)

yes, it was the pilot search. It was just a general question - I've seen people mention it on the boards that submitted records aren't accurate so was wondering how you told the difference.

It is all clicking into place now!

Dea

Dea Report 21 Nov 2010 15:18

Hope you have it sorted MC.

It is on the IGI search where you get submitted and extracted but it tells you which one it is.

Submitted are NOT to be trusted !!!

On the Pilot search, they all seem to be extracted so I believe they should be reliable.

Hope this helps.

FannyByGaslight Report 21 Nov 2010 15:24

Pilot search is only being done away with as it is all being transferred to here

beta.familysearch.org

And to be honest it is MUCH easier to use I find.
Been using that site for weeks and found loads of stuff I thought never to find, all extracted as Dea says,so sure I have things correct..

British Army WWI Pension Records 1914-1920 about Frederick Ridley
Name: Frederick Ridley
Estimated birth year: abt 1891
Age at enlistment: 23
Birth Parish: St Georges
Birth County: Warwick
Document Year: 1914
Regimental Number: 3350
Number of Images: 7

Would you kind people please check the first image of this record to tell me it says all of what I think it says please?
I have reservations over the age transcribed on it.
I think that all other pages after are not the same man?
But if that could be sorted yea or nay as well it would be nice.

Still working on that lame ducks lot of Cynthias that was passed to me by PM,and I am hoping that this man is her grandad, her dad has no name for father on his birth cert but does on his marriage and as his father has a different surname on his marriage cert to his own I believe it may be true.
Also this mans occupation on the record)I think) is almost exactly what is written on lame ducks fathers marriage cert for his fathers occupation.

Sorry ,getting carried away at the thought I may have found him..;)

The nameless one is back!

I am here.

I am glad to sit down.

Don't worry about mistyping my names Fans. I do realise that at your age, with your failing eyesight and those poor old arthriticky fingers of yours, the odd misprint is bound to happen.
