(These are my grandfather and his brother)


and the fact that i have got death and marriage for both but can't find birth records for either...

yet i CAN find a

Maurice Abraham Kausman 1904 London and a
Hyman Harry Kausman 1910 London

i was wondering if these are the same people with name changes.

so basically i wondered if anyone could find any info on M Abraham/Hyman Harry...as i can't fnd any deaths/marriages for them...which would also support my theory that they are the same people.

I have ordered their birth certs to check out their exact d.o.b's to see if they match.(I have death certs for my two)

Just been reading this amazing detective story - can't wait for the next episode.........

It would make sense if they changed their christian names to something less German, it was very close to the 1914/18 war - after all the Royals did it, so why shouldn't others. I see one of them has Abraham, which is more Jewish than German, and even more cause for him to change his name at that time, and later. The English weren't always that nice to Jews either - think of Shakespear and Dickens.

Adopted to different 'families' looking for her for over 40 years. Both my Christian names were changed so probably hers were too.

The annoying thing is, there is a guy registered with a tree on here and he has the two other Kausmans on his tree, plus their father Woolfe, and he has listed his birthplace as Poland.. so maybe if these people are MY people then we originate from Polish Jews!

Have mailed him 3 times now, but he hasn't replied! Its annoying because he may have all the answers ive been looking for!!

Will just have to wait for their birth certs to arrive so cross reference the birth dates!

Maurice Kausman, My dads uncle (Christophers dad who died recently) was awarded an OBE for involvement on the Fisheries board, protecting the river Ouse, i have recieved information from a fishing website! I have been sent the address of someone (from Downing St!!! who was his friend and colleague!) Apparently if i write to him, he may be able to give me some information) Also it turns out he knew John Major!!! (On a personal level!) So thats all intriguing!

Back from my hols, and back on the trail!!!

Meeting with my Grandmothers friend was amazing and thankfully solved a few riddles!

Hyman Harry Kausman WAS my Grandfather!!

They found a screwed up half a birth cert with Hyman Harrys name just showing on the corner!!! They had no idea about it so were relieved also when i explained about the name changes!

I ordered his full birth cert and his father was Woolfe Kausman!! So thanks to everyone for their input regarding this matter!

Looks like the whole family changed their names!

Returned home to a few certificates!! and Maurice Abraham is also my Maurice Arthur!

Also received a marriage cert for Woolfe, he married a Simmy Solomon on 13 Sep 1903.

My next quest is to establish where they came from and wondered if anyone could help (again please!!)

Does anyone have access to Polish records?

According to a Brian Hills who has a family tree with this whole family on, he states:

Woolfe (or Woolf, as he has added him,)
was born in Lodz, Poland in 1885..

Would it be poss to try and find a record of this???
and is there any way of finding out his whereabouts between 1885 and his marriage in 1903, in Bishopsgate London.

Woolfes Fathers name was Abraham Kausman.

Any help much appreciated!
