Hi Jacqueline,

Thanks for trying - just an afterthought - in those days Toxteth Park was in West Derby - does that make any difference to your search?

Hi Jacqueline,
Wondering if you can help I have a William Morris b1802c. (guessing in Port Talbot) died 11 jan 1883 registered at Neath aged 81. I know he married about 1838 . I have a son for him John Morris info taken from his marriage cert. John married in 1859 at Neath and was born at Neath in 1838 he seems to be the eldest child. I dont have any other children for him this is what I was hoping to find also his wifes first name any census information would be gratefully received.
Neath is the registry district but they were living in and around Port Talbot. This is in Glamorganshire and has Taibach, Margam, Aberavon and Michaelstone (Cwmavon) as some of its area's.
Many thanks Brenda.

Sorry for taking so long to reply Jacqueline, something always happens when I post a message.
The marriage cert is very hard to read its very faint. I think it says roller but my husband thinks hauler. Roller man would have worked in the iron works and Hauler or Hewler would have been in the mines. Sorry about this we have tried really hard to read this.
I thought I found him on the 1881 census living with his daughter Miriam at Briton Ferry he was 80 and working as a Iron roller man maybe this is why I think it says Roller on the marriage cert. He was the only William I could find that fitted in age he was down as father in law and a widow this was why I was trying to find him on other census's to see if this was his daughter, and to try to find my way back with him. Sorry I suppose with a name like this it's a hard one.
Thanks Brenda.
Briton Feryy is in Glamorgan too.

Many thanks anyway Jacqueline, with a name like William Morris think I am looking for a needle in a haystack.
Thanks again Brenda.

Jackie

Any chance of help confirming the parents of a Louisa Talbot born around 1851?

On various census her birthplace is recorded as Born at Sea, West Bromwich and Middlesex.. In 1871 Louisa birthplace is given as “at sea” and she is described as a servant living in the York Hotel, Fulwood Road, Sheffield. In 1911 Census recorded under her married name of Louisa Coleman as born at sea. She married William Coleman in Sheffield on 23 September 1872 and on the marriage certificate it is difficult to read the name and occupation of her father but it could be Aaron Talbot with occupation Roller or Broker. However I believe that her parents may have been James Talbot born 1824 in Greenwich and Augusta Louisa Addams born 1822 Grahamstown, Cape of Good Hope. James and Augusta Louisa were married in Lewisham in 1851Q1 and at time of 1851 Census were living at 52 Back Street, Sheffield where James is described as a Pawnbrokers Assistant - no children listed in 1851 but in 1861 James was a Pawnbroker living in Sheffield with wife Augusta Louisa and 4 children but not a Louisa.

Louisa and William Coleman are my great grandparents.

Thanks

Bernard

Hi Bernard,

I'm afraid the records of births at sea that I have only start from 1854
