Judi,

I always found it helpful looking up census' when I was doing my family research - gives you a rough guide of children's names as sometimes it gives you an accurate place of where they were born - in the census' tho .. they tend to round up or down sometimes 5 or 10 years .. just depending on who was doing it or what year it was

Hi Emma, hoping you can help me again.
You kindly gave me details of the marriage of James Bruce [ born c 1826 in Orkney] on 22/1/1867, father William Bruce, mother Margaret Duncan. This marriage is definitely my James. When I try to match him to possible births, I can only find one with William and Margaret as parents but Margaret's surname is Spence not Duncan. Might this be a married name?
Hoping you can sort this out for me
Molly

hi emma

thanks for the kind offer. i you have time can you please have a look for:

ELIZABETH MARY RICHARDSON, born 7/4/1906 in scotland (possibly aberdeen). her father was ROBERT RICHARDSON. mother unknown.

the date i can't be exactly sure of, as it is of someone else's information, but it is definitely the first four months of 1906.

as this information is sketchy, what i am looking for is more solid confirmation, thanks to you :)

thanks for any help.

Hi Emma
You did a wonderful job on Sarah Lavell (nee Lundie). It's a bit of a puzzle though. She remarried on 25/8/1873 to Matthew Fay and died on 25/8/1876 as the wife of Matthew Dunnery (a witness at her wedding)

Could you please have a look at deaths for MATTHEW FAY c 1829 between 25/8/1873 and 25/8/1876 and a marriage for MATTHEW DUNNERY to SARAH FAY/Lavell/Lundie between the same dates. Glasgow area.

I apologise if you have already received this request. After it was sent it disappeared at my end so I don't know if you got it or not! Thankyou so much for your help. Kind Regards
Pauline

Emma Report 4 Jun 2010 10:16

Pauline,

I've had a look for a death of a Matthew Fay between then and nothing seems to show .. I also had a look for a marriage between a Sarah Fay/Lavell/Lundie to a matthew dunnery but nothing seems to appear there either.

Something's are strange :)

Sorry Emma

Hi Emma
A few weeks ago you kindly looked for the birth of Sarah Watson for me.
I would be grateful if you could look for the marriage of her parents, probably in Old Machar, Aberdeen sometime before 1823.
Alexander Watson
Eliza Cowie
Thank you

Hello Emma....my GGG Grandfather was John Gilchrist born 1757.onoe year either side........I am aware of two such births in Scotland..and of the fact that both married.......

Here is my problem.....I'm looking to find if either of them (or any others) were widowed subsequently..that is before 1800.......

I can't find where my John was born.....twas either Scotland or London....but in 1802 he married Ann Gregory in Derbyshire........he was by hen 45.and Ann was only 26.

Which to my mind means she was his second wife..so if he DID come from Scotland he presumably lost his first wife.

There are no other John Gilchrists 1757 that I know of....

Thanks in advance for any information you might find.

Derek
