Good Afternoon Hilary, I have only just seen your post.
Yes, I would be extremely grateful if you can find any Turners in the Thorney records, say, from the 1600's onwards, though I think it is more likely to be from the 1650's.I would like to know all their BMD's. I have all the information on the (Le)Fevre families, so for me, it would be just the Turners.
Again, many thanks for your kind offer.

hi Hilary,
thank you for your offer
I would be very happy if you could look for any BMD for Marmaduke Sutton, about 1700, as far as I know he was born about 1714 and is buried at Thorney Abbey.
it it possible to find his parents?
with gratitude

Good Morning Moonbi
I have looked for the birth of Marmaduke, and thus his parents, in these sites, Polot, beta, freereg,IGI, and FMP,
But cannot find anything at all. So sorry, I can't help you with that one, unless Hilary can come up with something in the Thorney Records.
But, how did you come across his birth being about 1714.
Bye for now,
Julia in Derbyshire

hi julia
thanks for looking
I have his name from
source:
The Thorney Society Heritage Museum.

they sent me a pdf of the Sutton family, and his name is on the first page. because his reference of circa 1714 is the earliest date for Sutton in Thorney, in this source, I wanted to check that out.
from my research I think that the cemetery at Thorney Abbey is still in use, but I don't think Marmaduke had a gravestone or marker that I'm aware of.
best wishes Annette

thanks Hilary
no baptism in Thorney for Marmaduke.

now Im thinking he was born elsewhere, because there are other families in Thorney who have details further back than 1714. and their details are recorded.
could you look for me for Anne Peirson birth, Marmaduke's wife, and if she is not there then.......... I dont know where else to look
Married 05 October 1740
Anne Peirson or Pierson died 27 July 1788 age 74
Marmaduke died 06 June 1781 aged 67
both buried Thorney Abbey graveyard.

I know from 1772 he was rented a property in Great Towers Fen, but where they lived before that I dont know

Hi Annette, sorry can't find Ann in Thorney records. Have looked at all different spellings but not there. Bet she was from around Thorney as it was a very agricultural area & maybe her parents moved around for work.

Good Morning Hilary and Moonbi.
Many thanks Hilary for this information, which i will have a good read of and copy when I have more time this afternoon, today being my shopping day.
Moonbi, I had a cursory look at this site the other day, but did not find anything. I only knew of this site's existance from reading an article on tips a couple of days ago, but, I had not put the name Turner in the title, as I did not know you had to. I will have a go at that aswell, later.
Thanks again to both

good morning all
I havent added to this post for over a week. time flying by with end of school events.
Hard to believe my last child has now finished, and off to work very soon. the last school assembly was a lot of fun.

As I have come to a standstill with the Sutton's of Thorney, I am going to take a break from searching for them in a determined way; and turn to the other English branch of my forefathers the Lyon family of Cranford St. Andrew Northamptonshire.
If I have questions about this branch I will start up a new post thread.
However I will come back here occasionally to add any details I happen across; just for others to see.

Best wishes Annette
