massive brick wall/update

For years i have been trying to get birth cert of my g,mother without any luck,on the 1871 census it looks like she was born in Hepworth Lincolnshire along with her two sisters ,but for some reason the grandfather took them to Salford to live now on the 1901 census its got she was born in Manchester but she was only 2yrs old then so i dont think she would no,i have her marriage cert death cert but no birth cert ,can anyone help me on this name is spelt different and her middle name of Mary is missing

did get birth cert but was wrong one
Ada Mary Bassindale married Samuel Mellor both were 24yrs old in Walton on the hill,it was 1893 when they married

her father is down as John Bassindale decceased and occ Liceuised Vichualler

Until 1875, there were no penalties for not registering births, so you may have to accept that her birth simply wasn't registered.

Your best bet would be look for her baptism

I wonder if why you cant find a birth in Lincolnshire registration is that---

Hepworth is -- West Yorkshire, nr Holmfirth.

Epworth is in Isle of Axholme,,Scunthorpe Lincs district.

What leads you to think that Ada on 1871 is the person who married in 1893?

What was her declared age on the marriage cert?

Who witnessed the marriage?

The 1911 family is mine Ada was my Mum ,not sure Flick when i tried to find her dad and found nearly all the Bassindales came from the Lincolnshire area ,they were both 24 when they married and the wittness were
William Spenser and Mary Jane Bunfield
LadyKira not sure about them in the family just my mum said she had sisters but now there is no family left to ask,forgot to add the Liverpool one s are mine on 1911

could well be if John was dead before 1893 then it could be possabilty that it may be her family

i have tried looking for marriages for female bassendale father john but not found anything


this ada is born at the right time in bolton

Births Mar 1870 (>99%)

what was Samuel's father's name and occ on his marriage cert to Ada please

Ada's was John, a licenced victually - have you tried trade directories?

What was their address when they married

I can't find either of them in 1881 & wonder if maybe the area where they were living has been lost

I've looked on 1901 for John Bass*, Licensed Victualler, with no results

I can't see Ada in 1891...anywhere

Samuels father was named Samuel and he was railway porter
the address on the cert is
92 Olivia street Bootle ,it was the same address for Ada as well
