Hello,

Please can any help me.

I have today found details of a marriage of Deborah Peelow and Robert Rawlandson listed on Ancestry.

The marriage took place on 08.01.1880 at St Stephen with St Catherine in LIverpool.

I have no information about this couples parents and I was hoping to find a reference to be able to order the certificate and get some details from it.

Does anyone know how i can find the reference or perhaps obtain the details from a website.

Thanks
Suzanne :-)

Have you tried Freebmd?

www.freebmd.org.uk/

However, the details should be on Ancestry.

Have you found it on FreeBMD as that gives you the details needed to order the cert from the GRO

I wonder if they actually married - what Suzanne has seen comes under 'marriages and banns'.

Hello,

Have checked Freebmd and Lancashire BMD and nothing on them. On Ancestry the details are listed under banns read from parish records, so no reference on them. :-(

well I can't find anyone with the surname Peelow - could it be Pellow?

And could it Rowlandson?

On many Rawlandson records, it is registered as rowlinson, rawlinson, rollinson, rowlandson and even rollingson.

Any of the above but still unable to trace.

is it possible that when the banns say marriage 08.01.1880, they didnt actually get married on that day.....or ever?

I think a 2nd birth cert is issued if the father comes forward and acknowledges the child.

Might he have died? I see he was born 1836:

Deaths Jun 1883 (>99%)
ROWLANDSON Robert Gornell 49 W.Derby 8b 390

Suzanne

Suzanne Report 17 Jun 2012 21:10

That would explain the second birth cert but can't understand why they would get married 20 years later.
On the 1861 census Deborah is listed as being single and living with her son. On the 1871 census she is living with Robert and classed as married. I am unable to find her on any census before or after these dates.

I am unsure if this is the same Robert as there is a marriage for Robert Gornell Rowlandson in the mid 1870s to another women and none of the records gbive Robert a middle initials .

Thanks Suzanne
