If anyone has access to Scotlands People would you mind seeing if there is a Marriage for Henry Buckley and Elizabeth Mastin?
They had a child c1883. She was a home child that ended up in Canada shipped out in 1895 aged 12. Ada Buckley.

Many thanks for your time
Geraldine

Nothing coming up on scotlandspeople. What makes you think they married in Scotland? Was Ada born there?

Thanks Gins....oops! Potty :-D

I'm actually working with my sister in law in Canada and she's at work.
I keep waiting for her to reply lol
She said that the 1907 Marriage was actually 1901 and another Ancestry member has put a correction...
Ada was her Fathers Mother...

Eliza's maiden name was also Marstin (she married John Thomas Marstin). so she must be Elizabeth's sister.

I "feel" that Henry Buckley" and Henry Harling are the same person but can't prove it!

MrsBucketBouquet

MrsBucketBouquet Report 18 Aug 2013 16:04

I think so too...but.....would you have 2 sisters one Elizabeth and the other Eliza?
Looks good though.

Hang on here....Potty
Do you mean Eliza was a Marstin and married a Marstin? Nah lol

edit...Sorry Potty yet again. I have worked out what you mean now (senior moment) :-S

Maybe John Thomas was Elizabeths Sister?

I need to rest my brain... x

It was looking for my lot that drove me Potty!

The PR of Henry & Elizabeth's marriage is on Ancestry. His occupation - blacksmith; father: Richard - waterman.

Henry Harling in the 1881 is a labourer in brickfields - so probably too different men. Maybe Elizabeth lived with Henry Harling as his wife and reverted to Buckley when he left/died?

Potty

Potty Report 18 Aug 2013 17:43

Still no luck with Ada's birth.

Elizabeth and Eliza were sisters - same father's name and occupation on marriages and if you trace the census back, they are together

Looks like you were right Potty.
If Elizabeth found herself with no man it's no wonder she sent Ada away!

Thank you thank you :-)
