Chris Ho, Oh my goodness I made contact with this lady (Donna from the thread you posted a link too) just a few days ago as I stumbled on her Ancestry tree and saw an exact photo that I have. I have only last weekend found out the names of the adults in it and went searching and found Donnas tree. In the photo are Ivy with her parents Albert and Fanny taken about 1922 or 1923. Probably not long after they arrived in NZ. Also in this photo are my father in law, his brother and his sister Elsie. The grandparents of these 3 little children were William and Ellen Titcombe. Ellen's maiden name was Osborn.
Elsie was named after the Elsie Titcombe who was witness to the marriage of Albert and Fanny and was the daughter of William amd Ellen.
I hope that makes sense.

Donna the lady who was asking questions is away at the moment but on her return home to NZ I hope to be in contact with her.

Thank you everyone.......it will take me a wee while to sort the above info. I will start with Ivy and work backwards. A person I have found who has a connection to Ivy is on holiday for a few weeks so I can't ask about details on her tree. Actually she has two with conflicting information.........giving me a real headache!!!!!
From what I can work out there are two Edwin Walkers. One, Edwin Walker and the other Edwin George Walker just to confuse me.
It's a wet day here in NZ so a good day for research.

E Walker 73 born @ 1823 Press Tool Maker departed Liverpool on the Bothnia 8/10/1896 going to Boston USA
Edwin Walker 73 married? from Birmingham a Press Tool Maker going to Concord USA arrived Boston 18/10/1896.

So where is he + family in 1891??
I'am sure this is the same Edwin who married Mary Ann Osborne and had Albert Walker.

Edit found them

Mary......My Edwin Walker was a widower in 1873 when he married Mary Anne Osborne. I am not so sure about him going to the USA.

Mary Report 25 Sep 2016 10:09

Maybe Ellen didn't know her father's name if she wasn't the daughter of James Rowe, who was never on any census returns with Emma nee Osborn/e.

Emma Rowe did remarry 1916 to Charles E Tullett she died Dec 1918 and then he married her sister Feb 1919 Charlotte Summers nee Osborn/E.

If Albert named his dad Bert and was Actually Edwin walker then maybe that was the case with Ellen.

tree suggests Edwin Walker 1825 Harborn/e Staffordshire a Toolmaker on census returns and Mary Ann Ward had son Alfred Henry Walker @ 1849 he married Kate A Walton and emigrated to USA @1885.

1881 Aston Manor D19>23
Alfred Henry Walker son of Edwin and Mary Ann
2 doors away Richard Whitmore 33
Mary Ann 32
Mary Ann Whitmore 12.

1891 Mary Ann Whitmore a lodger with Emma Rowe nee Osborn/e.

Is there a connection there?

1910 says Alfred M Walker 60
Kate A 58
Clara A 24
Edwin father widow age 85.

Edwin walker 9/5/1825 died Concord new Hampshire USA 14/1/1918.

Went looking and remembered this thread about Ellen from Roots chat. It has possible family connections that weren't proved at the time.

That certainly sounds possible. The name being Ann instead of Mary Ann on the census was something I had overlooked.

To add to the mix on Ellen's marriage cert it says her father was William Osborn!!!!

Mary

Mary Report 24 Sep 2016 10:54

Mary Ann Osborn/e 1840 who is Ann on 1841 census with parents James and Ann.

She had sister Emma @1846 who married James Rowe 1864.
In 1871 Ladywood Birmingham D22>5 Lower King Edward road
Emma Rowe married 27
Emily Rowe age 3
Ann Osborne 1812 mum
Ellen Osborne 1864 (Emma's daughter)

1881 Ladywood D33 >17
Emma no Ellen with her

21/3/1880 John Titcombe marries Clara Colesby witnessed by
William Titcombe and Ellen Osborn

1881 Ellen marries from Henry Street the address of John and Clara Titcombe

I cannot find any sign of Ellen in 1881,William at home of parents.

1891 St George D1 > 16
Emma Rowe

1891 St George D22.18
190,Summer Lane
Ellen and William Titcombe.

So could Ellen who married William Titcombe be the niece of Mary Ann Osborn who married Edwin Walker 1873 and had Albert walker who died in New Zealand.

Although he gives dads name as Bert on his marriage to Fanny George his death cert who someone claims to have states his parents as Edwin and Mary Ann Walker nee Osborn.

greyghost, those are the threads about Ellen that you have found. I was looking for other members of the Titcombe family at that time.

Jennifer

Jennifer Report 22 Sep 2016 08:56

I am not convinced his name is Edwin. I got that from an ancestry tree and that is why I am searching.
Yes I saw that the name was Bert on the marriage cert but thought it could be just what he was known as.

I'm still not sure how you have got back to Albert's parents as Edwin Walker & Mary Ann Osborn as his Marriage Cert gives his Father as Bert?

greyghost

greyghost Report 22 Sep 2016 08:40

The only Albert (no initials) Walker born Birmingham 1881 +/- 2 years

His birth certificate should name his parents - I presume you haven't got it as you say you believe possibly his parents to be Edwin Walker and Mary Ann Osborn. Chris' post shows Father as Bert

Jennifer, you say that you have had help before to try to find Ellen Osborn - could you please post the links to those threads so helpers can see what information has been found before and aren't wasting time and effort to end up repeating information.

Jennifer

Jennifer Report 22 Sep 2016 08:21

greyghost.........Yes that is the right family in 1911.

Chris Ho, I think we may be on track. The address of Summer Row is also the same street that Elsie Titcombe and her 2 brothers, Ernest and Leonard lived with their parents, Wiliam and Ellen Titcombe. Ellen's maiden name on her marriage cert (which I have) is Osborn.

Ellen has always been my brick wall going back. I have never been able to find her parents. On the marriage cert it states William Osborn as her father. Many on here tried to help find her to no avail. She was born about 1861 or 1862.

I'm going to have a busy time trying to match things up.

Thank you everyone :)
