Hi Cath Was confused at first - looking for him born Lanark (the town), but he was bron in Glasgow, Lanarkshire. I think this is him, although the age is slightly out. there are no other possibles, and the occupation is right. Here are his parents and brothers also, still at Burnside Street (which is how I found out he was born Glasgow, not Lanark!) Can you help me please? I am looking to see who lived at 53 Virginia Street, Aberdeen in the 1881 census. Hopefully it will be Phillips or Pirie. My husbands g grandfather lived there is 1873 when he married. his surname was phillips, but his mother Isabella remarried to mr pirie. I assume Isabella had other children, but dont know if they were phillips or piries. Thankyou Dawn

Could you look for Jane Robina Stewart (her husbands dob is 1877 so hers could be around the same time). They married in Govan, Glasgow so this is where she maybe from although her husband is from Drymen. Could I be very cheeky and ask you to look for Alexander KEIR. in 1871 he is living at Blackhouse Farm with his brother and his brothers family. It states he is married. In 1881 he is not with his brother. His dob is abt 1824/26, Drymen area Alexander KEIR - have found him in 1881. thanks Many thanks

Hello everyone My apologies, I did not realise anyone had posted on this thread this year! There are lots of others offering look ups, so I was happy to let them have a turn. I'll get onto these now. Regards Ellen.

Dawn I can not look up by address, but in any case there is no Isabella Pirie or Phillips at that address. There are only a few Isabella Piries in Aberdeen on the 1881, so if you can give me some more details I can try to pinpoint which one is her. eg; date or place of birth; husbands christian name and or occupation. Regards Ellen.

Janet Sorry, no sign of Jane Robina Stewart, and too many Jane Stewarts to pinpoint her without some further info. If you know they married in Govan, do you have the cert, and therefore her parents names? Regards Ellen.

Ellen Report 6 Jul 2006 08:03

HI Patricia There does not seem to be one who immediately fits. The only Rose A Reilly born in Glasgow 3 yrs +/- 1860 is living with her widowed mother and siblings, so thats not her. There's a Rose Ann Reilly born Hamilton 1858, but she's living with her widowed father, William, a navvy, born Ireland. You give me the impression you have found her father, brother and step siblings, so that can't be her. There's just a few Rose Reillys, but none fit, as they are either living with parents, or the ages are just too far out. Have checked all spelling variations of Reilly/Riley etc. If you give me some of the siblings/fathers details, I might be able to find her - unless of course as you say, she has married already. Regards Ellen.

Hi Patricia Checked deaths on SP. There's just one infant, under a year old, Rose Reilly registered in 1861at Springburn, Glasgow. Mother's surname is Mechan though. Does Springburn match up with where your family were in 1861 or where her mother died? Best of luck with your search. Regards Ellen.

Hello, could you possible do a search for John and Elizabeth Whiteman. I have no idea where in Scotland they lived at this time. John was born in Glasgow but lived in England and Ireland before moving back to Scotland. He would be approx 50 in 1881. I'm not sure how old Elizabeth would be as she was his 2nd wife and at present have no info on her. I don't think they would have any children living with them at this time, but not sure. Many thanks
