Hi Anne, Many thanks for the kind offer. I am trying to find some information about a George Parfrey who I have found on 1891 census living in Lancashire. He was aged 17 then and a servant - all it says for place of birth is Scotland. Sorry I can't be more specific but it might just be Lanarkshire - will be grateful for anything you can find. Many thanks, Jackie

I think Christina married a John Cunningham from Stirling but not until around 1888, but she might have been working in Stirling. William remains a mystery. Hello Anne, loads of people have tried to find this chap for me but he won't be found. Charles Bateman born Deptford Kent (Now London) around 1866-1868. I have him in 71 91 01 and marriage cert. He is 3 years old on 71 census. I would also like to find his mother Frances Bateman (nee Perkins) also born Deptford around 1841. She was widowed in 1870. Last seen on 71 census. Any help is much appreciated, Selena

Janet

Janet Report 7 Nov 2005 12:10

It's information I am after and you may be able to point me in the right direction. I am starting on my fathers side of my tree. My fathers name is Matthew Dunlop Keir (7/Feb/1919). He was born in Killen in Stirling. His mothers maiden name may have been Dunlop but not sure. I have been advised to join Scots people and this will help me get started. I was going to send for his birth cert which will give his parents names and then join scotspeple or is there a cheaper and easier way of doing it. I know nothing of his parent (names, DOB, where born etc) I know he had several brothers and possible a sister (older or younger I do not know). Any tips would be appreciated. Many thanks

Janet I think your best bet would be to order your dad's birth certificate. Scotlandspeople only has births 1855-1904. Anne
