Hi Julie I have not been able to find a death for James Noe,but the coverage for BMDs on Ancestry is not complete and I do not have any credit on 1837 online. Unfortunately his birth is too early for a birth cert,so it will have to be a Parish register lookup which I do not have access to. I found the family on 1871 census(do you have this info) and Elizabeth was 13 at the time of census and therefore born in 1858 or 1857,so you should look for a marriage 1856 ish,I could not find one for James on Freebmd. However I did find a death for a Hannah Noe age 37 in March Qtr 1871 Hackney 1b 384 which sounds promising. Sorry not to be of more help Mary

Hi, thanks for the offer of lookups - I have a George Perkins and Sarah Eden married early 1840's in the Milcombe/Bloxham area of Oxfordshire, with a son Edmund born 1845 and son Archelaus born 1849 - would they show in the 1851 census? George was a basketweaver and/or farmer. Also, is there a chance of a look up on the 1841 Census for either name pre-marital? Would appreciate your help, as I am in New Zealand Regards, Fraser Duncan

Hi Gillie I had a look at Oxon 1841 for any Heavens in Wootton as that was down as his place of birth on the 1871 census, but found no family withthat name. Just a thought could it in fact be EVANS as in rural Oxfordshire speech an H was and is added to words that begin with a vowel and it could be that the enumerator made a mistake and as many people were only semi literate the name became Heavens. Have you tried asking for a Parish Register lookup, there are people on this board who have Oxfordshire Parish records. Sorry I could not be more help. Mary

Hi Fraser How are things in New Zealand, good to be able to help someone on the other side of the world. What follows is all I could find on 1841 /51 censuses. 1841 Living in Milcombe,Oxfordshire Alice Perkins 65 Widow born Oxfordshire George Perkins 20 Ag Lab born Oxfordshire William Perkins 20 Ag Lab born Oxfordshire NB Ages for adults were not given exactly they were rounded up or down at the whim of the enumerator. I could not find Sarah Eden, she had probably left home and gone into service outside the Village. 1851 Living in Milcombe George Perkins Head 32 Ag Lab b Milcombe Sarah Perkins Wife 29 b Milcombe Edmund W Perkins 5 Wife's son Scholar b Milcombe Archelas Perkins 2 Son b Milcombe William Perkins 29 Head Ag Lab b Milcombe Emma Perkins 28 Wife b Brackley,Northants Charles R Perkins 6 Son Scholar b Milcombe Selina Perkins 5 Daur Scholar b Milcombe Elizabeth Perkins 1 Daur b Milcombe I thought I would include George's brother as a matter of interest. Do you have them in the1861 census?I will check them out if you would like me to. Regards Mary

Hi Maggi, I cannot find any of the Frewins listed in Rotherfield Greys on the 1851 census,I guess they must all have left home by then and unfortunately the 1851 is not indexed, they are probably not far away, but where to look is the problem. I found two Frewin Families as follows on the 1851: Living at Witheridge Hill,Rotherfield Greys Eliza Frewin Head Widow 50 Farmer 111 acres b Shiplake,Oxon John Frewin Son 14 Shepherd boy Mary Frewin Daur 11 Henry Frewin Son 8 Scholar All children born Rotherfield Greys Living at Highmore,Rotherfield Greys James Frewin Head 58 Fruiterer & Publican b Nuffield,Oxon Elizabeth Frewin Wife 57 b Oxon(cannot read place) James Frewin 16 Son Scholar Robert Frewin Son 12 Albert Frewin Son 8 All children born Rotherfield Greys Do you want me to look at 1861 in case some may have drifted home?? Only 2 out of 10 this time??? Regards Mary

Hello Maryclare I cannot find Alice Cooney on the 1901 census, but I am a little confused as I looked for a birth for Mary Cooney on 1837online and found only one birth for a Cooney in Leeds in 1912.This was for an Alice Cooney in June Qtr Vol 9b Page 781 and the mothers maiden name was McHale. Was Your Mum the eldest child,if so you need to find a marriage about 1910/11. I found a McHale family living in Leeds with a Alice aged 21 with them. I think this is going to be really tricky to sort out and wish you the best of luck. If you think I could help again get in touch. Regards Mary

Hi Ted I could not find William Alexander Wilson on the 1871 census. But looking for the children I found this household: Living at 41 Hunt St,Everton,Liverpool Mary Barley Head Widow 59 Charlotte Wilson Daur 30 Widow Jessie Barley Daur 17 Unmarried Janet Wilson 8 William Wilson 6 Sarah Wilson 1 On the census image it states that the young children are Daughters and sons,as the relationship should be to the Head of the household,it seems more likely that they are Charlottes offspring especially as they are named Wilson. They were ALL born in Liverpool. If you Message me with your email address I will send you the images as the entry covers two pages. Cheers Mary
