After all this time I am still trying to find out what became of Amy Spencer, born 1888 in Braughing, Hertfordshire. She disappears after 1912 and I can find no further trace of her.. If anyone can find her in the 1921 census and point me in the right direction I would be grateful.

Thanks for all the help. Grace was my M-in-L and lived with us for the last couple of years of her life. Amy's son Harry died in 1911 aged just 14 months. Cecily Marshall died aged 23 in 1932, unmarried. I have the death certs. (On her birth cert she is shown as Cicely Marshall Spencer) The 1921 census entry looks interesting, especially the "adopted daughter" bit. I shall have to look up that family later. Meanwhile, please, no back history as I have done extensive research and have the family back several generations. I also know what happened to Amy's parents and some of her siblings, and have met up with a second cousin of my wife, who is Amy's granddaughter. Many thanks, once again.

Any thoughts on the possible Stevenson marriage for Amy?

ArgyllGran

Thanks.
In that case, that does appear to be Amy's marriage, 1939 entry, and death.

YOBs are often slightly wrong on the 1939 Register, as I said, but the days and months are mostly correct.

I am having trouble getting on to the GRO for a copy of the marriage cert. All sorts of other sites want to do it and charge lots of money for the privelege. I am getting a bit to old and confused I suppose.

The marriage cert arrived today. It is indeed "my" Amy. She is described as a spinster, and her father is Henry Spencer, a Head Kennelman..
