Sally, this is an enormous help. When it was all happening Iused to wish I had somebody whocould laugh with me about the rubbish she came out with. That would have eased the pain considerably.
Gail is incredible to have dealt with it so well, all power to her I say.
Seeing it all written down helped considerably,in fact I feel that I may have lost a lot of my unhappy memories and no longer need to revisit them to find some sort of explanation. It would be lovely to think other people had achieved something similar.

There is an interesting article on this subject in today's Times, entitled "My mother hated all women"

Thank you so much Tracey.Have just read it,short and succinct but let us hope it is another step toward getting this tragedy generally acknowledged.

Thank you Sharron, it was a two way street...

It only came out because I was devastated over the sudden loss of my Mum, and she said she felt that way about her departed Dad, but couldn't feel love for her Mother.......and it all came out.....

......we helped each other in different ways, and I am going out to lunch with her next week....she is so lovely.....

Going for one of my counselling sesions this morning. I feel guilty thinking it's cos of mum I'm like this. At least the counselling doesn't bring it all back, it's about looking forward. And giving me hope of a normal life

Carole you have made a huge step forward by seeking the guidance of a Counsellor.
It is about you now and building your self esteem.
The best of times await you.

Thank you for the nudges.I don't like to nudge it myself because"You conceited little b****r,what makes you think other people are going to want to blah, blah, blah!"
I really have had a huge effect from reading that article.Certain stresses that I must have had for fifty years seem to have gone.Well,at last I have an explanation now and I feel that I never really knew my mother, just the personality disorder.
Let us hope that others can find some sort of peace from it too.
