Fingers crossed it is just a cold Daff and that you have built up enough wotsits to shake it off. Enjoying a good sunny day today, more like the weather we expected. Worried that there is no rain in Glos for my plants and hope my lovely neighbour is looking after them for us.

Huia Report 6 May 2009 18:58

I was woken at 5.15 by the vigorous chirping of the smoke detector. OH was up and cooking toast (he always burns it to a crisp). He doesnt normally have toast for breakfast. I was far from pleased at being woken so early. Half an hour later he noticed that it was dark outside! What more does he expect at that time on a cold nearly-winter morning.
If I disappear from the boards it will be because I am either in the nuthouse or in prison.
Huia.

MrDaff Report 6 May 2009 22:44

Mmm BC.... it is very very quiet, without them, lol... they have arrived home all safe and sound.... had a good journey all the way!

I have got some *proper penicillin* to take, just in case... still no temperature, so it looks ok so far... but my voice sounds dreadful... and R has it now as well!! What a couple of crocks we are!!

Julie Ann, I used to love Cold Knapp and Porthkerry when I was a kid!!

Oh dear Huia... will you get a chance to have a nap at some stage? Oh, and if we don't hear from you... we have a pretty good rescue squad, here to break you out of either the asylum or prison!!

Hiya Taff, I am positive it is just a cold..... no raised temp, even (and believe you me, my temp is being taken every hour or so by R, lol) so I fully expect to be ok in a couple of days.... and the antibiotic should stop it going onto my chest!! I'll be fine for the meet, promise.

Maz.... I thought a 6am get up was early, lol!!

Ann.... sunshine? what's that, lol??? I'll answer your pm tomorrow... R has been digging through to find out where we went... in Fuerte Ventura it was where the ferries leave for Wolf Island..... can't remember the Spanish name... but I'll let you know!!

Jac... hem and sleeve totally clear, promise ;¬))

Love to you all... am now off to my bed!!

nighty night

Huia Report 7 May 2009 09:56

Had another try this morning to clear the blocked sewer. Finally after lunch I phoned the experts. The man arrived about an hour later and took less than an hour with his special machine. Worth every penny of the $225. Blow this DIY lark. It has caused me a lot of grief and wasted time. Not to mention the horrid yuckiness. I still dont feel clean.
OH has just gone to bed, after sleeping on the settee for the past hour (while I watched Coro St - pure escapism!). I will be following him very soon. I will have a half sleeping pill at the ready to shove down his throat if he dares to wake up too soon.
Huia in a rather agressive mood.

MrDaff Report 7 May 2009 11:18

*whispers so as not to wake Huia* Morning all..... Just phoned and cancelled BP appointment with nurse.... R is poorlier than me (well, he would be, wouldn't he??) but he doesn't have a temperature, either!! But he is poorly enough to have phoned in sick... a rare occurance!! Although my voice is going, and my throat is sore, and I have a croup-style cough.... once I have taken a couple of paracetamol I don't feel so bad... lol, contrary creature that I am! Of course, I have the anti-biotics to stop any infection..... poor R has to fly solo, bless him. I'm sure we'll both be fine in a couple of days.

~~~~~ to mamiddau ~~~~~~ I wish I had just an ounce of her energy!!
Well, off to browse the boards, while I wait for the consultant to ring me.... I have had to cancel my outpatient's appointment with him tomorrow.... but I want to know the result of my bone marrow thingy... even though I know it'll be ok cos they'd have had me in by now if there was sommat nasty lurking, you still want to have that confirmation.
Huia
Huia Report 7 May 2009 19:41
Daff, I feel awful moaning about my problems on your thread. I do hope you and R are a box of birds very soon.
I had a good sleep last night, in fact I was first awake at 5.45 and lay there wondering if I could manage some more sleep, then at 6 P asked if 6 was too early for a cuppa so I said that would be fine. At least the smoke detector didnt wake me with its screeching this morning. That is a really rude awakening. And no smelly sewer to play in today, and our volunteer firefighter and his dog will probably be here at 8 to take P for a walk for an hour or 2 so today is looking good so far. No need for men in white coats or blue uniforms to take me away.
A much happier Huia.
ButtercupFields Report 7 May 2009 19:53
That is so nice to hear, Huia, and I know that Daff doesn't think that you are moaning about your problems, which are very real and must be exhausting for you at times.. I like to think that we can support each other on here as well as have banter:-) Glad your day improved and it is the small things like sewers being cleared that often make the big difference in our lives!
Hope you and R are feeling better, Daff, and that an infection has been kept at bay for you. I have had a busy but nice day, my old Dragon was feeling a bit low but I managed to cheer her up, I think. Or maybe the thoughts of having three days off made me more sweet natured!
Will come back later to tuck you in...lol...BCXX
*glares at Ann* wmsl!! I have been cold all day again today!! We are not too bad... voice comes and goes, is fine after painkillers for a while... R is, well, man-flu-ing it big time, lol... and yep, he still gets that thermometer out for me every couple of hours!! And feels my forehead every time he passes me.... he is pretty good at judging what it'll be.
Huia, as BC says, don't you dare feel awful... you are not moaning at all... that's what friends are for, listening when things are tough! You offload as much as you like... especially if it helps you to feel better. ((((hugs)))))
BC.... 3 days off??? I bet you are sweet..... !! Poor Dragon... why was she so low?
Hiya Maz... I used to be an early riser... in hospital I am always awake by 5.30... but then I napped throughout the day. I always woke about 7am naturally...... and thought that was being an early bird, lolol!!
Night night all, sleep tight, watch the bugs don't bite!!
Morning Daff, How are you feeling this morning then? Well of coarse Mr D is worse than you!!! But as long as he's still got his poor aching, sore, runny, bloodshot eyes on you, I'll allow him to be poorly!!LOL
It looks like its going to be another nice day here, blue skies till I turn the washer on!
Have you heard from the consultant yet? keep us informed now, cos we'll all be sat biting our nails otherwise.
Morning Daff and all:-) Sorry I was so enthralled with the lovely Mr Clooney on ER last night, that I quite forgot to tuck you in! Hope you have a good day and that you and R feel much better. Oooh... BC.... I do love it when people who make friends on here become friends in the real world, too!!! My nose is blocked... so I won't smell your peas burning!! *ts* some people will do anything to get a fireman to the house, lol
Maz, I do hope your mum is ok.... send her loads of love from me... she is brave having the spinal thingy.... I'd want to be knocked out cold!!
~~~~~~~ waves to Huia.... hope you didn't burn dinner as well!! It is becoming fashionable... I burnt liver a couple of days ago.... and you should have heard my hard boiled eggs exploding, lol..... awesome, as the kiddies would say, lol

~~~~~~~~~~ waves back to 007 1/2
Taff, consultant has telephoned... and we have re-arranged the appointment for a week next Monday. Meanwhile he has given me the *bare bones* summary... so I will be able to get lots of questions written down for when I see him.
The bone marrow was absolutely clear... no cancer, so I am still in an excellent remission. AML has a dreadful habit of relapsing though..... there are often *lurkers* that cannot be seen. So, basically I now have to sit tight and play a waiting game. Most will relapse within a year of finishing treatment... the relapse rate is pretty high across the AML board, more folk relapse than don't.
However, there are lots of different categories of AML.... and some have a poor, medium or good long term prognosis. I am in the Good section, and towards the top end of it (that's because I had an excellent response to the first and second chemo's), but that doesn't give me any absolute guarantees..... I have just under 70% chance of long term remission (more than 5 years) and if I relapse, I have the transplant option.... which reduces my long term remission chances again, lol They rarely talk of a full cure.... once I have survived 10 years then they will re-look at it, lol!!
I am still 100% positive though!! Always was a glass half full sorta girl!! And I feel so good now... even with this cold... that it just bolsters you up, big time.
Right, enough about me... let's go and tread the boards while I wait for the Tesco delivery..... I do hope they will be here soon, as I have run out of goodies... I have the Ginger biscuits, but no milk to dunk 'em in.... that is just tragic, lolol ;¬))
