Not only do they spend their money in the pub they often leave drinks sittng there,now that is a waste..

The reason they have so many scenes in the pub cafe is to get people together as they wouldnt be in each others houses etc...or something like that. I read about it some place.

Remember when Martin went upstairs to do his homework when he was about 9......he didn't come back down til about 5 yrs later when he'd grown 6ft tall and 10 yrs older AND looked like a very different actor!!!!
Same with Traaaaacey Barlow when she went upstairs to do her homework, she was a sweet little girl. Came downstairs years later, total face change and vampire bitch from hell.

And while we are on the subject of these kids turning up when they get let out of the childrens warehouse/cupboard, whatever happened to Michelle's daughter Vicki - the one with and without the lame attempt at an American accent??!! She turns up out the blue, hangs around for a while and then disappears again...What was that all about?

You should all take note, too: whenever you hear someone allegedly speaking Canadian on one of these shows, they ain't.

One of the worst examples is Gail Platt's brother. We just laugh uproariously at him. Whatever he's speaking seems to be some neutered / stereotypical US English, complete with US linguistic mannerisms and expressions. (I think he says "huh", where real Canadians - of course - say "eh".) Really, there are Canadian actors in the UK. Why they couldn't find one or two, we can't figure out.

I'm sure we must have some. You'd think wouldn't you.
Sorry to say it JC but I think many people in the UK wouldn't know a Canadian accent from an American accent, unless it was that real southern US drawl which is v distinguishable from any other.
I think I have a fairly good ear for accents, but must admit it takes me a wee while to work out if a Canuck is a Canuck as opposed to an American. Just like it's a little bit hard to tell a Kiwi from an Aussie, until they say certain words.
So, to cut a long story short, the Eastenders/Corrie/other soap casting folk probably think we are easily fooled, just like they tried to fool us with Vicki's terrible attempt.

But Janey are you talking about the old Nick or the new Nick. (Who gives me the creeps)

Ann I think you're thinking of Gail's son, Nick, as opposed to Gail's half brother Stephen Reid, who is in fact American but as he lived in Australia, England and everywhere else but Canada, I wonder why they chose him to be a Canadian!!!!!
