Frost here think it was -2 instead of the -4 we were promised, we were out last night and the pub car park was sheet ice at 11pm but the roads had been gritted so were fine. No snow since a flurry yesterday afternoon.

Mornin' All ,
Pretty as a picture postcard here today. Covering of snow all around, after yesterday's deluge. Lovely blue sky's, but very cold.
The OH managed to get his German tank built chariot off the drive this morning to fetch the papers, but had to pour boiling water on the gates as they were frozen.
I am listening to the local radio for weather updates, as it seems to be all around us today. The OH is contemplating going to Lincolnshire over this weekend, on a 'mission', but needless to say, I shall not be accompanying him.
Glad you managed to get to your 'do' Ann, and got safely back home.
Good Luck to Everyone
Julia in Derbyshire

Cardiff - we have had a shedload here and it's still coming down - been snowing for about seven hours now - disastrous because next door neighbour's funeral this morning = already the mountain road has been closed between the crematorium exit and Caerphilly and the post funeral refreshments are in a hotel in that patch of the road - the crematorium is also on that road but whether they will close it further I have no idea - the church service and crem are still happening according to the funeral home but of course this could all change as there is no let up at all. The coffin is in the house so things are pretty awful all round

LindainBerkshire1736004 Report 17 Dec 2010 13:28

Hi all
Back from the dentist, a big filling done. The roads were OK but some ice around. Stopped at a garden centre for some flowers for a friend as we're supposed to be out to dinner tonight. Their car park was like a skating rink !!! Many patches of black ice. We helped one lady who took one step out of her car and slid, fell right down and banged her head on the car. She was badly shaken.
So be very careful ladies as it is dangerous even in unlikely places.
Back home in Berkshire we are in the middle of a snow storm, strange stuff very powdery, dry, like balls of snow, guess it hail really and it is settling right now at 1:30 pm.

Stay safe in the warm if you can

The roads further over in the valleys are bad, lots of hold ups on the roads, but we have had only a smattering of snow which mostly disappeared in the afternoon sun. Forecast isnt good though. Temp outside, 0.9, inside 15.8. Guess where I am stopping !

Here in South Wales ( just below the Brecon Beacons) we have had about 12-14 inches overnight and throughout the day. Even the main roads were a no go zone this morning and only 4x4 type vehicles travelling.
My Son In Law is out at the moment in a works 4x4 ferrying council workers back and forth work. Will find out more about the road conditions when he gets home later.

Quoting Sylvia East Yorkshire, Lots of snow and ice, so cold.
We are meant to take our daughter to the John Radcliffe hospital in oxford on wednesday, not sure what to do, its a long way in good weather never mind this.We will have to go sometime soon as she is to have surgery there in february. Whats it like down that way anyone on here know .

Why not keep tabbs on the weather for Oxford etc via the BBC Weather site you can key in a town in the search box and up comes a forecast.

There's also a useful traffic site www.highways.gov.uk/traffic showing current conditions - accidents, weather, overhead sign content, road works etc etc

Conwy 22.51

Had plenty of snow overnight, A55 East and Westbound down to 5mph max.

So much snow in Conwy town this afternoon that the town was gridlocked with traffic backed up over the Cob - the only road in and around the town is one way. One bus crashed near the top Arch into town and another skidded and blocked the same stretch of road altogether. No traffic in town for hours and I haven't seen a bus since !

I originally moved here in 1995 and have never seen the snow lay like this - the salt air usually clears it quite quickly.

Gorgeous views from my upstairs windows though across the hills - just like a Christmas card.

Hi folks~~~
From just slightly north of Ebbw Vale S.E Wales.

Whenever the weather forecaster says snow on high ground, we know we are in for a deluge!

We have about 12 inches in our St ,the council have kept the main roads open:)...but we can't get onto to it in our car ! Just as well I bought new knee high 'fashion'; wellies..but with good grips last week.
We are used to deep snow, but am very surprised that Cardiff and especially Bangor have had it so bad.
Bil was due to come down tomorrow from Anglesey, looks as if we won't be seeing him !! A55 gridlocked !
A470 ,our dual carriage way to Cardiff closed in places !

We are due for another fall overnight , another 10ins predicted, so I guess shopping is out of the question.
No bread, small freezer, not a lot of tin stuff (don't generally use it ) that's life....shanks pony for while, just hope the shoops can get deliveries.:)

Morning from a lightly snowy Berkshire at 9:00

On the news is the fact that BA have cancelled their flights from Heathrow between 10:00am and 5:00pm also Gatwick 10:00 til 4:00pm so if anyone is flying please ring first to check all airlines out. Easy jet at Gatwick cancelled yesterday, too.

Here it was icy all day yesterday and overnight, it is snowing lightly now, so will settle on the already icy ground.

Take care everyone and keep warm

I shall not be going anywhere and cope with what stocks we have in the cupboards
