Conwy. 9.25 am

Tried to get into work this morning, 4 miles away. Still no buses - since 3 pm yesterday. Son tried to take me by car, couldn't get out of town - had to abondon it. Roads not gritted since just after 9 pm last night.

Will wait and see if the buses start running later because I have no intention of walking - too treacherous and all uphill.

Snow overnight here - couple of inches or so. The sun is out and it's very pretty. We have escaped the worst so far, as we are in a 'pocket' between the Mendips and Salisbury Plain and often miss heavy snow/rain and storms.

Jean (Monmouth) Report 18 Dec 2010 10:38

10 35 am, snow has just stopped here, still looks likely to start again, but roads are not that thick with snow. Others not too far away have had a large amount. temp 3.0

Good Morning everyone,
freezing here in Corby.
A light sprinkling of snow left over from last night, but no more.... YET.
Stay warm folks.... hot chocolate and feet up weather I think.
Actually.... we have no hot chocolate in the house, must rectify this as early as possible.

Looked out of the window at 6am - just frost on cars and the road.
Went back to bed, got up at 9am - 2 inches had fallen!
No local bus (of course!) - in fact no buses in Winchester at all!!!
True to form, the M3 is running smoothly, though traffic is sparse. Only the fortunate few, who either live on main roads or who have had local roads gritted can get out, I suppose.
Looking at 'Traffic England' , it's running smoothly in Hampshire, but when it gets to Surrey, it looks like it hasn't been gritted.

Deanna Report 18 Dec 2010 12:29

Yes Maggie, I know how you feel.
We live in an area where the housing is for the sick and disabled.
The paths outside our doors are gritted.... great... but that is as far as we can go.
Those of us who are lucky enough to have family who care are being cared for.
How many people have no one to look after them, and cannot get out to do for themselves, I wonder?
The wardens are very good, but their time is limited.
Hope you are all manging.

Son just got home from Bournemouth to Milton Keynes. One lane open on the M3 and 2 on the M25. had to go that way because the A34 was closed. Took him 4.5 hours instead of the usual 2. Glad he's home anyway.

It is like the North Pole here in North Wales, the temp has dropped very quickly the last hour, and still it is trying for more snow, wouldn't be surprised if it is -10c tonight!

Have stayed indoors and done all my xmas wrapping, so one big job out of the way at least!

Take care everyone.
