The thread was actually about the concept of atheists utilising a disused church (of which there are many).
I have no idea what you are basing the sweeping statement "so little knowledge" upon.
As for hymns and other ditties and people knowing neither the words not the tune, I am basing this on personal experience.
Since when have you been appointed to say what people may or may not say?

Muffyxx Report 6 Feb 2013 18:32

The song in the clip was *Don't Stop Me Now*

and I'd like Prof Brian Cox to be our *speaker* EVERY week please ;-)

Since when have you been appointed to say what people may or may not say?

Since 3rd Dec 2012

Now get on with it, Errol. And stop being constantly diverted

eRRolSheep Report 6 Feb 2013 18:48

And the significance of that date is....?

JustJohn

JustJohn Report 6 Feb 2013 18:51

Errol 3rd Dec was answer to your question. FGS, gerron with it and stop wittering and wondering :-(

My Dad was a committed atheist and proud of it - any of the god squad calling on him were invited in and he would enjoy arguing with them till they got fed up and left

John there is no need to be offensive and rude.
So you are saying you were appointed on that date? By whom, may I ask?

Ann, it must have been fascinating to hear him. Was it a lifelong decision?

AnnCardiff Report 6 Feb 2013 19:22

always Errol - having said that, he really did have Christian values and was so kind and caring with a wicked sense of humour

he poo pooed any idea of a god in any religion - when I die, he said, put me in a black bin bag and out with the rubbish on Friday morning!!! :-D

at his funeral, in a chapel, cos my Mum was a committed Christian, I recall leaning over to her and saying "If Dad was here to see this he'd kill himself laughing" and he would have

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 6 Feb 2013 19:29

there was some interesting research recently into the intolerance of christians and how clique they are
However, I suppose that could apply to all members of society.
Ann, did he believe death was just that - in other words did he have no beliefs of any sort?

MrDaff

MrDaff Report 6 Feb 2013 19:37

Ok Sue :-(

Of the less 'atheistic' related music available, how about John Lennon - 'Imagine' ??

:-)

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 6 Feb 2013 19:38

*sobs* I think I'm the only person in the world Mr Daff that utterly detests that bleeding song lol :-S
