Rose,,,, :-D,,,,,nah,,,,,,,

page 1 has people knowing trolls on here,,,,,,,,can we have their names so we dont all fall foul of their antics,,,

if peole are going to avoid then they must know who they are going to avoid because they are trolls, dont you think that is best, bring them out in the open.

a troll never sticks to one site but trolls the internet on many sites,,,,,,

I am a great believer that if you give someone who deliberately tries to cause trouble the freedom to play their divisive game they will overstep the mark and will have to face the consequences of their own actions - I base that on the old maxim that if you give someone enough rope they will hang themselves ;-)

On a serious note......

Some, if not all of the "Sins" referring to a "Troll".........might also apply to someone who suffers from mental health issues.

Something worth considering.

OFITG,,

you state you are going to avoid certain people,,,I guess these are who is belived the trolls, care to add names so all can benifit and avoid being a victim.

Prickly Holly, that is true and one should try and be aware of that possibility. I suppose the only way of gauging that on a chat board is to watch over a long period and see if there are obvious patterns of behaviour? and how they react to others generally.

And, consider this too. The number of views against number of posts often differs because non paying members can view but not post!

Kay???? I do not think that it would be advisable for anyone to go down the route of naming them.

I can count them on two fingers and they would like nothing better than for someone to name them. I for one have no intention of giving them the satisfaction of falling into their trap - they know who they are and I avoid their threads like the plague.

What did we do a couple of years ago, when we didn't know how many times a thread had been viewed?? or how many posts a member had made?

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 3 Jul 2013 15:36

we didn't care - and frankly I don't care now

well if anyone dared put names on the board they would be thrown off GR in a heartbeat

Kay??? I take everything at face value. Using Jonesey's description it should be easy to identify any Trolls.

Best course of action:

Avoid like the plague.

EDITED: as I'd missed the word identify

I will most def Tooty Fruity keep an eye out for someone who maybe possibly suffering mental issues and is a troll....... :-D :-D. :-D :-D. ;-)

It may not be someone with mental issues who is a Troll. It may be someone who just revels in causing distress to others.

Kay????

I think if you have found yourself in a troll's headlights, and been subject to unwarranted abuse from that person, then you know who is a troll, and you avoid it.

Abuse being in the form of ...................

followed around the Boards

comments deliberately aimed at disparaging you, or making comments about what you have posted on another thread, to your detriment ....... but hoping you will respond so troll can report you

constant RR'ing of posts submitted by you, even innocent ones .............. said posts then being removed by the site more often than not because said Troll has declared it "personally offensive to me"

bullying and offensive pms.

seeing such behaviour turned towards other people.

often, the portrayal by the troll as "poor me. everyone attacks me. I don't know what is wrong with this site" when others resist the activities and respond by reporting posts and pms.

The disappearance from the site by people who have been intimidated by being the recipient of such behaviour, or by seeing it happen to others.

There are several people who HAVE left GR in the last few weeks because of the trolls who are around.

Trolls often say how good a particular site is, and attack anyone who makes any complaints about it. In view of this ............. I have trouble understanding why they then turn around and deliberately cause dissent, causing such havoc that people are horrified at reading posts, and do not join or leave.

Except ............... for the love of being the centre of attention.

They must be very lonely people.
