Emms, I got the name wrong. Mohammad was his father. The photo is correct but his name was Naser al-Din Shah Qatar.

And there's loads more. I don't know why I didn't look before:-0 :-0 :-0 :-0
Probably because I wasn't 100% sure that the story about the Shah's link to my family was true until now.

No, I'm not on Ancestry Emms. I may give them a trial when I have more time :-)

I've got to say, that I have done very well on GR. I have found the experience very positive for lots of reasons. Not least because I have met lovely people like yourself <3 <3

JemimaFawr Report 24 Apr 2015 12:40

I have had the photo for years Ann. My mother had a copy from my Grandfather's photo.

The original copy is much better, but I couldn't find it in time to send it away to my "new" 2nd Cousin in New Zealand. Her Grandfather was the boy on the right.

I copied it from a copy of a copy that was copied on paper to put in my file :-D :-D :-D

When I find the original copy, I shall upload it, it's much better! :-D

WOW!

I know why there was the link to my Great Grandfather now! :-D :-D
I'm so excited!

Naser al-Din Shah Qajar
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
....

Reforms
Naser al-Din was effective in introducing several different western influences to Persia. He curbed the secular power of the clergy, INTRODUCED TELEGRAPHY and postal services, built roads, opened the first school offering education along Western lines, and launched Persia's first newspaper.

:-D :-D :-D

OH, HE WAS ASSASSINATED IN 1896 :-(

'Emma'

'Emma' Report 24 Apr 2015 12:57

He was born before his time, assassinated for his Western ways maybe :-0

It started out that way Emms, but it looks as though he was rather controversial later on.

There appears to have been some issues there in 1882, and maybe that is why the family came home then.

I can't believe that I have been here all day so far :-0 :-0 :-0

I had plans to do a good bit of housework today :-D :-D :-D

Well, I'd better go and do some!

Thanks for the giggles today everyone :-D :-D <3 <3 <3

What's all this excitingly nonsense press & TV comments that the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge are awaiting the birth of their 2nd baby! We know it's not their 1st.

By the way, it's to be a girl. And my gossip is as valid as yours.
