I watched it on the IPlayer later but it was spoilt for me by a woman's voice over giving every detail of what people were wearing and what they were doing in their dance all the time, it must be for the partially sighted :-0. Never heard this before but it was very off putting:-(

I agree AnnG and Linda about Angela R, she looked very stiff....mind you the training regime must be very gruelling even more so for someone of her age but she has done well :-). Others have caught her up and overtaken her now though :-)

My favourite dances of the evening were

Annabel's American Smooth....each week she appears to grow in confidence and looks to now be enjoying herself :-). What an excellent teacher is Johannes and as I've said before the perfect partner for her :-) <3

Angela S's Argentine Tango.....she really got into the dance and looked very much the part....it was red hot :-0

I think they all did very well and although Nigel was suppose to have made a few mistakes he is now the only male who is leading his partner which is more difficult than being a female dancer in a pairing:-) So credit where credit is due Nigel :-)

So who will be in the dance off :-0. Definitely Angela R but who else :-S
Either way it should be Angela R to go :-(

LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 20 Nov 2023 07:06

Well, we were all right... definitely Angela R :-(

A 51 age difference between her and Kai :-0. Nevertheless they both did well to get as far as they did :-)

I was a little surprised to see Bobby in the dance off :-0

This is where it gets really difficult as they are all so good now.....it will be a difficult decision to make in the dance off next week :-0

I think it must have been a shock for Bobby as well. I also think Nigel was worried before Angela's name was said. It was the right decision, she was not improving now. I am pleased that she got to Blackpool though and I thought her speech at the end was lovely. I think they will stay in touch now and she seems to have something of a grandparent relationship with him. He is so nice as well.
I think Nigel may be in danger now

I was surprised to see Bobby in the dance off as well. Obviously he was so much better than Angela and it was her turn to go. I see that she has signed up for the Strictly tour along with Ellie and Layton.
I think that Ellie and Layton are the top two. With the others , it is harder to tell. Annabelle is probably the weakest dancer, but from now on, I think it is just down to how popular they are with the public.

Florence61 Report 20 Nov 2023 14:05

I personally don't think it's fair that a professional dancer is in the competition.

Layton is a ballet dancer and a professional whereas all the rest are not so what chance really do they have of beating him?

Florence in the hebrides

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 20 Nov 2023 15:01

The only chance would be if the public stopped voting for him but he seems to have a good fan base. and then I suppose, even if he were in the dance off the judges wouldn't vote him out. :-(

Florence61

Florence61 Report 20 Nov 2023 15:25

So not saying it's "fixed" but I said from the beginning who was likely to be the winners!

Shame really as there are some who have worked so hard with little previous dance experience who have excelled as the weeks have gone on.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 25 Nov 2023 21:52

Well, I wonder who will be in the dance off tonight?
I think Angela, Layton and Nigel will be at the bottom, but I wouldn’t like to pick which two will dance off.
I didn’t really like Bobby’s dance, but I think the public sympathy vote will keep him safe

LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 26 Nov 2023 07:08

I agree Linda :-) Although I did like Nigel's Rumba not a dance I normally like :-D

Layton's American Smooth really didn't do it for me. There were elements in it that he had done in other dances. As one of the Judges said was it really a Smooth :-0

Nigel's Rumba was a difficult dance. The story was very good and for a male celeb I thought he danced it very well. So often the Pro dances around the celeb to make it look good but I thought Nigel led his dancer :-)

Annabel's Paso was, I thought, really good :-) A traditional Paso which didn't look at all stompy and as far as I could see was foot perfect :-). She really has grown in confidence, especially in the last couple of weeks, with Johannes patience and teaching skills <3.

Angela S's Cha Cha Cha wasn't anywhere near as good as her Argentine Tango last week :-0. Earlier in the competition it would have been one of the top dances but not now :-( Think she would be the first to admit she has had a rollercoaster ride in the competition :-(

Bobbie's Couple Choice was an excellent storyline and yes I did shed a tear but I'm not sure it was his best dance :-(

Ellie's Argentine Tango was very good and most probably the best dance of the night but there was something missing in its intensity but I would think that was down to the choreography not to Ellie's dancing :-)

So for me the dance off should be between Layton and Angela S. I personally feel it should be Layton to go as I feel, as a non-dancer, Angela S has progressed more from her starting point :-). It will however be in the hands of the voters :-D

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 26 Nov 2023 07:41

As Always Belle says it all and I could not have put it better. I did like Nigel's rumba.
I liked Ellie's Argentine Tango but not as much as I liked Angela's last week and I am not sure why. Maybe not as atmospheric.
I did like Bobbie's dance and found it very emotive but not sure if he will keep his fan based votes, probably will.
which is the case with Layton, he probably has a lot of fans from where he normally performs. I didn't like his American Smooth at all. Goodness knows what Len would have said!
Annabel#s Paso was really good, what a long way she has come since the beginning, and how her confidence has grown too.
Last week Angela's Argentine Tango was great but this week her Cha cha lacked something. However she can only dance what is in the choreography

It should be Layton and Angela in the dance off but will likely be Angela and Nigel. it is hard to see the judges, especially if Shirley has to give the casting vote, voting Layton off. He does seem to be their golden boy.

MotownGal Report 26 Nov 2023 13:02

I agree, but I dont think Layton is going anywhere.

I noticed they said that Nigel had experience in Musicals, which we knew, but why mention it now? Is that to hint he is as experienced as Layton?

All the non dancers have done brilliantly and have made terrific progress.

I think it may be Angela, but I have a feeling it may be Nigel up against her.

Angela to go unfortunately.

LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 26 Nov 2023 14:18

Shirley mentioned last night that Layton was an 'experienced' dancer

Strictly fans AGREE with Shirley Balls as she 'rips Layton Williams to shreds' by insisting actor finds American Smooth 'difficult' despite branding him an 'experienced' dancer.

LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 26 Nov 2023 14:35

I think although Nigel may have been in musicals I don't think he has been recently :-)
I think I read he did dance as part of his drama diploma but wasn't particularly very good :-0
He is better known for his TV work :-)

I caught Bobby Braziers dance last night.

I know nothing about dance. I didn’t know the song and couldn’t hear the words.

So it came across as two people prancing around with no shoes and socks on.

However, I do appreciate that it meant a lot to him and his family.

I was sad to see Angela go. I was pleased that Bobby was saved. :-D

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 27 Nov 2023 06:55

I think it was the same old ploy, of pitting a maybe not so technical dancer against one who had experience.

Sad to see Angela go. :-(

I would very much like to see Ellie the overall winner, but I am not so sure that will happen.

LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 27 Nov 2023 07:00

Well, I agreed with Shirley about Angela S :-0

After Craig's remarks to Layton when he was chosen to be in dance off any of the remaining dancers would have known that their time was up :-(. Not sure why they ask the Judges for their thoughts on how they could stay in the competition at this stage. By Craig's remarks you just knew who he would be voting for before they even danced :-(

Such a shame because I thought Angela S did actually dance a Cha Cha Cha and very well:-(

So on to Musical Week which I love :-D

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 27 Nov 2023 08:26

I agree Belle, re Craig's remarks to Layton before the dance off. such a pity that the three voted him in I would have liked to see Shirley have the casting vote that time. Not sure she really would have saved Angela or was she just saying it. Having said that a jolt to his confidence will be good for Layton who may have felt he was untouchable.
I suppose we will never know if the results are manipulated in any way. I have a feeling he is not that popular with the public.
Sorry to see Angela go, I enjoyed watching her progress. ~Which is what it is all about.

LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 27 Nov 2023 09:19

AnnG, I think Shirley would have voted for Angela because she was quite scathing about Layton's dance when he first did it and I noticed when Tess said that Shirley would have the casting vote she took a sharp intake of breathe:-0
