That's definitely the correct family in 1881 Alviegal. The Pricilla Evans that died in 1900 has the maiden surname Ford.

Well done, the age ties in for that marriage and death indexed with Hastie as other surname

Good stuff RG! There is a death for a Christopher Quigley in Glasgow in 1963 but not sure if it's him.

AustinQ Report 1 Jun 2017 12:17

I think the Precilia born 1909 and David born 1911 were Sarah's children- but not Samuels, as they are also registered in Sarah's maiden name:

EVANS/ HASTIE PRECILIA

Born: 1909

573/2 29

Johnstone and Elderslie
-----------------------------------

EVANS/ HASTIE DAVID

Born: 1911

573/2 277

Johnstone and Elderslie
-------------------------------

I believe the Precilla I posted earlier going to Canada is correct. At some point she returned and married William Gibson in 1938.

This is Precilla in 1939:

15 Seymour Road Tilbury , Thurrock U.D., Essex, England

Closed Record
Priscilla Gibson 07 Jan 1909 Female Unpaid Domestic Duties Married

Ah! She married in 1945, Glasgow Provan, as Johannah

Good find AustinQ. I wondered when you would come and help us with this one :-)

rootgatherer

rootgatherer Report 1 Jun 2017 12:27

Looks like Hannah had a son and maybe a daughter born a different district but with Hastie as a middle name.

Discharged as unfit in 1898. Gives a description of him, 5'3" and a tattoo of a bird on his arm

Here you are, AQ. He's the right David

David Gross Hastie
in the Canadian Passenger Lists, 1865-1935
Name: David Gross Hastie
Gender: Male
Age: 15
Birth Year: abt 1912
Birth Country: Scotland
Date of Arrival: 13 Mar 1927
Vessel: Montnairn
Port of Arrival: St John, New Brunswick, Canada
Port of Departure: Greenock, Scotland

Born Elderslie.
Was a schoolboy in Scotland. Going to be a farmworker in Canada.
Destination address: B.I.C.A. [?? it's very blurred] Hostel, Montreal.
NOK: Mother - Mrs [something handwritten, maybe Sarah, certainly begins with S ] Hastie, 9 [ ?? maybe 8 ] Pattison Street, Paisley.

It's too blurred to see the headings of all the columns. There are some handwritten squiggles in some columns, but I've no idea what they are.
